It’s hard to overstate how incredible @jchavezmpls.bsky.social was at the Ward 9 forum on Monday night. Besides being a gifted public speaker, he demonstrated over and over that he views unhoused people and people who use drugs as fully human and fully worthy of housing and health and life.

What is Copaganda and how has it harmed our ability to have real public safety? Why do so many democrats promote it even though it’s contrary to the values democrats purportedly agree with? Check out episode #7 of “We Don’t Have to Choose,” featuring Alec Karakatsanis.

Why are clearance rates important? The person is caught. High clearance rates, not long punishment, is the best deterrent to crime. And we sometimes see multiple incidents of gun violence which could have been prevented had the person been caught the first time.

Minneapolis could, I imagine, have nice things too. If they elected leaders who choose to implement the solutions that we know already work.

So fucking grim and also a very normal indifference to human life from cops and jails

Kingsley Bimpong was arrested, jailed because Eagan police assumed he was intoxicated. He was actually showing signs of a stroke. A drug recognition officer didn't follow training. Bimpong died on the floor of a cell, writhing in pain. Guards ignoring it.

I was honored to represent Robin Wonsley and Michael Wilson. I admire them for their commitment to the hard, necessary work ahead of us and required of us. I got fired from a good job for taking this case, and yet I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you, Robin and Michael, for fighting for Minneapolis.

We won!

Following three weeks of legal proceedings and over five hours in court, the judge found Wayzata-based Minneapolis landlord John Wall in violation of the law on three counts, resulting in a $1,450 fine.

Apply this language to higher levels of government in this country and see how it sounds: "the executive is having his allies push to change the constitution so that he can hire whoever he wants to lead vital executive departments, with no confirmation vote from the legislative branch."
wedge.live
POWER GRAB: 6-5 majority of commissioners on this work group say council shouldn't get a confirmation vote for mayor's picks for directors of public works, community planning/economic development, civil rights, health, emergency management, regulatory services, assessor.

counter-counterpoint: jacob frey is not minneapolis, much as he tries to pretend he is with "TEAM MPLS" campaign shirts, and they can't gaslight us into thinking he as an elected is intrinsically tied to the success of the city. they really want us thinking he's holding the barbarians at the gates
bullycreative.bsky.social
This could only be true if Frey's critics somehow tricked him into lying about banning no-knock warrants, issuing more vetoes of council majority votes than any mayor, appointing political patronage failures in important city staff positions, alienating civil servants,

I agree, emergency hotel and motel vouchers are absolutely needed! There a range of needs, and not everyone needs the same thing. Emergency housing vouchers are permanent housing potentially being cut from our City budget, which is why I have focused there this week.

Local cops are not on the side of Democratic politicians or under their actual control. People refuse to understand this too even though we've been making this point for decades.

Pritzker is offering the following at the moment:

1. Trust the courts. [not a viable strategy]
2. "Film the cops"
3. Vote in 2026
4. Protest [peacefully]

And he knows this is not sufficient. Everyone does.

He will not address the local cops angle because he might be deposed...

I have worked tirelessly alongside my neighbors to push for this both by building solutions in community and by advocating for better policy. Most recently I was at city hall advocating for emergency housing vouchers.
