When you have bully pulpit, you use it. Loudly and repeatedly, until the message breaks through. Measured, cautious responses are a thing of the politics of the past.

I’ve seen a few scathing comments from dissenting SCOTUS but honestly only a few. It seems like most opinions are being issued without formal dissent - either that or the press is systematically ignoring the SCOTUS minority which is a new low of malfeasance if that’s what is going on.

Adjacent to this, I’d love to hear your take on why the liberal members of the court seem to have had so little to say about all this. I have heard words of alarm from eg Sotomayor but I’d expect them to be issuing dissent opinions alongside these garbage rulings and AFAICT they aren’t.

I saw an ad on BART yesterday for “IR blocking” glasses intended to hide your identify.
They look like they would stop an eye scanner but don’t know that they’d do much against whole-face recognition.

But yeah there’s a market there.

One of my great annoyances is when people save files with e.g. "May 2025" in the name instead of YYYY-MM(-DD). How am I supposed to find anything like that? When you sort, the file for August is before the one for January. That's intolerable

The second answer is a hard no. Every creature’s microflora dying all at once? Goodbye animals. And then the plants bury themselves in their own undecomposed detritus in a few weeks or months.

Presumably if you have enough time left on your sun, life would eventually reboot if conditions were good
