Gonna remind the whole of Bluesky, again, that journalistic norms of saying “Texas is doing this” and “Texas is doing that”, (when it’s the TX GOP only) cedes an entire population to white supremacy and erases the opposition that also represents Texas and the Texans that would be victimized.

Mask-off moment for book banners. Libs of TikTok posted breathlessly that New Braunfels ISD still has books in its library dealing with racism & LGBTQ themes. Christin Bentley, who’s behind most of Texas’s anti-book laws, posts that our new law, SB13,can be used to remove many of them.
Libs of TikTok tweet reading:

“SCOOP: @NewBraunfelsISD in Texas has an online database for books available for children in their school libraries.

In just ONE of their middle schools, there are over 40 "LGBTQ" themed books and over 80 books on "racism."

There are HUNDREDS of these books available across all the schools, including elementary, middle, and high schools.

Parents, do you know what your kids are reading?”

Christin Bentley tweet reading:

“Many (if not most) of these are prohibited b Texas law to have in a school library because they contain indecent and profane content.

When will @NewBraunfelsISD follow the law?

@teainfo #txlege”

fresh off of getting the houston pride crosswalk removed, Libs of TikTok is also celebrating getting a free pride event in New Braunfels removed from the Comal County Fair & Rodeo: x.com/libsoftiktok...
COMAL COUNTY FAIR
& RODEO
Press Release: Tuesday October 7, 2025
Following discussions with the organizers of the New Braunfels Riverside Pride Festival, and after expressing concerns related to age appropriateness, safety, and the well-being of all involved, the event organizers have decided to relocate their event to an alternate venue.
The Fair Association is a nonpartisan organization. Facility rentals are open to the community based on availability, and the Association does not sponsor or endorse outside events. We recognize the importance of ensuring that all activities held on our grounds reflect the highest standards of public safety and a positive community experience. Moving forward, we will be revising our rental contracts to align more closely with the mission of the organization while maintaining a nonpartisan approach.
We appreciate the constructive feedback and concerns shared by members of our community, as well as Riverside Pride's professionalism in their decision. We remain committed to providing a facility where our community can hold events in a safe, and respectful manner for all residents of Comal County.
Thank You,
Comal County Fair Executive Board

In order to ban books from its libraries, New Braunfels Independent School District has just closed its libraries to middle and high schoolers.

Students are *banned from the school library* so officials can go ban books.

This is EXACTLY what advocates warned.

Banning books for the ideas they contain- even those some people find disagreeable (like “LGBTQ” and “racism”) is censorship.

Censorship is un-American. Censorship is wrong.

Fuck this fucking crazy state! Ahhhhhhhh!

BTW, NO KINGS in Houston is collecting books to DONATE to libraries, so bring some books out Saturday!

Why ban books when you can ban the entire library?

New Braunfels ISD has frozen library purchase orders & closed secondary campus libraries following a harassment campaign by Libs of Tik Tok & other out of district extremists.

Trump said he'd focus on the “worst of the worst," but he's mostly focused on people like Melissa Tran — a MD business owner who's lived here 30 yrs and is a fixture of her community.

Cruel.

I salute all who fought for her release. After months in ICE detention, she's finally home.

Look, all you have to do is google “Hijra” and “Muxe.” This ain’t hard, y’all. It’s not new, it’s not weird— it’s been this way since humans were invented. What IS new and different and weird in a bad way is any attempt to stifle humans loving each other. THAT’S weird in a horrible way.

AND NOW HAS THE AUDACITY TO CLAIM THAT BEING TRANS IS A MODERN CREATION.

I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.

A mom in Houston reported her 15-year-old son with autism missing. She spent 6 days terrified, searching for him. The whole time, Houston police knew exactly where he was since they helped ICE place him in a refugee facility.

This is beyond cruel.

The whole rally was incredible - IMMACULATE vibe, wildly exciting. But I especially loved Chi Ossé’s speech, because it looked toward a future where we do the work after we win.
