Honestly lads it’s not hard. This is a 97% position Ed Davey is agreeing with here. This should be easy mode politics.
And *YOU* (i.e., my interlocutor) don't do it because you don't play the kind of games that work with split-screen and even if you did, you wouldn't do it because neither you nor your friends have the kind of life where you just call people over to spend time playing a game together any more.
I feel this hardest when I see people reminisce about how great split-screen gaming was, but no-one does it any more

Like, dude, my kids have their friends over and do it all the time. Minecraft is like the hugest game ever off of this

The difference is that *YOU* don't play split-screen any more

Big fan of building new homes, no strong views on housebuilders, but... why is everyone so righteous about forcing housebuilders to pay for new GP surgeries and schools? They didn't magically create the patients and pupils. We pay for doctors and schools in tax.

Yeah, I always call people out on Reddit etc. for doing this.

You don't have to do this, you only have to do this on the CCP-controlled brain rotting video app, there is a simple solution
the forced self-censorship gibberish we all have to do on social media now is having a devastating effect on the way people communicate with each other. nobody in a healthy society is saying "unalived"
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
Saw “A Complete Unknown” on the weekend. OK as a jukebox biography I guess, but I felt that the film could have been better played either more for drama or more for laughs, and lacked focus.

Refreshing to see a genius played as the pain in the neck they were for those around them though.

The evidence cited for it being “escalatory” boils down to different ways of saying that “the Russians say it is”. And of course they say it is, they’re going to say anything and everything to make us stop supplying the Ukrainians with the means to defend themselves.
This is what I couldn’t get about the rhetoric of supplying this-or-that weapon-system to Ukraine as “escalatory”. How on earth could supplying anything short of WMD be “escalatory” where Russia has been using every conventional weapon they have from Day One?

Old enough to remember when the media was tripping over itself to congratulate Strong Mister Trump’s new muscular stance on Russia.
NEW:Trump urged Zelenskyy to accept Russia’s terms for ending its war in a volatile White House meeting on Friday, warning that Putin had said he would “destroy” Ukraine if it did not agree.

The meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy descended many times into a “shouting match” on.ft.com/3WMSQSu

The incipient hatred of the current PM, especially in the online space, has gone way beyond anything that could reasonably be described as rational. I swear a significant number of peoples' brains have been broken.
It’s just the policy choices that are unimaginable in today’s Britain, despite national service having been proposed by at least one major party at the last election (and quite possibly at the next one too).
We did have national service at the time, and MILEX was ~9% of GDP.

We also had a division fighting in Korea at the same time, and substantial forces fighting in Malaya/Cyprus/Kenya.

If we made the same policy choices today we could probably pull off something like the same deployments.

I was looking at Reform's policy again the other day. They're proposing a £60k salary for people on ILR keeping their visa. Which means pretty much every nurse on ILR would be a risk. It's insane.
Apropos of nothing, I really do think UK journalists and politicians need some reminding that mass deportation of LEGAL immigrants, particularly those with permanent status, is far more extreme than even Trump's America and would basically place Britain completely on its own among democracies.

SMDH, do I really need to educate you as to what Hoth *REALLY* was about? Two words: oil pipelines.

Vader lied, people died.

Can I say "I'm Italian I've been to literal Rome" is my favourite way that I've ever seen someone write "I'm American"
This.

I’ve also got to say that I fundamentally object to analysis that treats journeys as essentially having no value at all. Fewer injuries and deaths are a good thing, but they cannot be the only objective or we would not go anywhere.
But for the reals, I think ~60% of the HK people I used to follow either no longer post or are no longer in HK, and that’s just “Diet Authoritarianism”.
Why wouldn’t we posting on WeSky about how great everything is under the glorious new regime? Signed, a little girl.

Oh my god. The scale models kept imploding so he's like "don't worry I have a new manufacturing method that will stop these implosions" and they're like "should we test a scale model built with this new method" and he's like "no no just try it on the real sub I'm sure it'll work"
This is the ultimate paradox of AI search:
1) Rather than looking at the source, you look at an AI summary based on the source.
2) Visitor-traffic to the source reduces.
3) The source disappears.
Website operators need to consider how to block AI.
wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data www.404media.co/wikipedia-sa...
