Of course it poses no risk, but that would go against the entire American political establishment. That’s why it’s a scoop. There might be two politicians in Congress who would say publicly that this is a non-issue, but I doubt it. “China is fine” is not part of the American government’s vocabulary.

If you’re gonna be a convincing bot, you have to realize this isn’t really about China but rather the trump administration’s inability to adhere to their own rhetoric on foreign influence, especially for a defense contractor. Republicans would fully be on the war path had it happened under Biden.

What Fr Dowling is doing here was not just "offering communion to detainees". A full on Eucharistic Procession is a really fucking big deal. In Catholic theological framing, those folks were the honor guard with the very great privilege of escorting Jesus himself to the detention center.
