Nigerian activist Okey Vitalis Nnorom remains in Israeli detention after participating in the Omar Al Mokhtar Flotilla, a mission following the Global Sumud Flotilla that also sought to break the illegal Israeli siege on G-za and deliver humanitarian aid. ￭ Contrary to earlier misinformation reports that he had been released to the Nigerian Embassy in Jordan, flotilla organizers confirmed Nnorom is still being held alongside activists from Morocco, Algeria, Spain, and Norway. ￭ They accused Israeli authorities of misleading lawyers about the detainees’ status.￭ Black and African hostages from the flotilla, such as US labor leader Chris Smalls, have notoriously experienced worse conditions and abuses in Israeli detention than their white counterparts.￭ Nnorom, described as a committed humanitarian, has not been seen since his abduction. ￭ Activists and human rights groups are urging the Nigerian government and international bodies to intervene and demand his immediate release.#VPol
