This is the same Netflix that Musk wants to cancel over it being too woke, with too many trans positive depictions.

apparently the new Netflix show Monster: The Ed Gein Story invented an "autogynephilia" backstory for their serial killer (because of course they did!). so time to re-up my collection of writings on this pseudoscientific zombie theory...

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.

I held keynotes and participated in panels, both in person and online. A recording of the keynote I held a few weeks ago at @weizenbauminstitut.bsky.social and the panel with data workers that followed can be watched here:

Does your university have a contract with Grammarly? Write to the decision-maker asking if they think the university should be paying for a tool that is fast integrating features that can only be used for academic misconduct and cognitive offloading and request they drop the contract.

It is not "attribution and sourcing" to generate post-hoc citations that have not been read and did not inform the student's writing. Those should be regarded as fraudulent: artifacts testifying to human actions and thought that did not occur.

For help with attribution and sourcing, Grammarly is releasing a citation finder agent that automatically generates correctly formatted citations backing up claims in a piece of writing, and an expert review agent that provides personalized, topic-specific feedback. Screenshot from Grammarly's demo of inserting a post-hoc citation.

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

Thiessen having a good chuckle about his fired liberal colleagues - some of whom he worked with for 15 years - is a good reminder that token conservatives at mainstream news outlets are/were there to destroy them, not to contribute to them.

This Rutgers professor and his wife, also a Rutgers prof, have been forced out of their home and classrooms by TPUSA. The story deserves greater attention.

This is kind of response under the guise of "failure of professionalism" or "lack of collegiality" has deep roots in medicine. Not aligned with protecting the public.

During Covid, when @gorskon.bsky.social & I coauthored a piece for @bmj.com on the links between right-wing climate denialist billionaires, anti-vaxxers, & the Great Barrington Declaration, some physicians felt it was "uncollegial" to be critical of the GBD

Now the GBD are Trump & RFK Jr's lackeys😔
hammbear2024.bsky.social
Not being a physician, what I see is a toxic push for collegiality among medical professionals that has people not calling out bad actors, or as here, going out of the way to praise them, hoping they’ll reform and fly straight, when what they needed was to be called out and disempowered.

The very first statute authorizing domestic use of the military during domestic emergencies, enacted in 1792 by a Congress full of the same folks who wrote and ratified the Constitution, expressly provided for judicial review in certain circumstances *before* the President could even send troops.

All I can think is how a couple years ago these people claimed to care so much about the sanctity of「 free speech 」they didn't want to prevent people from using the n- or r- word in usernames and they didn't want to implement blocking or moderation but say something unflattering about 'em and *snap*
