is that a little bit a me problem? sure, no doubt. but think about it through the lens of fatphobia: just like it's a dick move to insult your own size in front of a friend that's twice your weight, it's a dick move to say you're lazy for doing twice in a day what your friend is capable of.

i consider myself relatively able-bodied (putting aside that that in itself is a spectrum) but i struggle with fatigue and headaches esp pre-cpap. sometimes i need a Lot of sleep. and it's upsetting when others lambast themselves for "laziness" for like, napping.

if you constantly drive yourself this way you are accepting the idea that not doing so is a moral failing and that constant productivity is the only way to be deserving of respect or even life. perhaps not consciously, but that's the logical endpoint when you really interrogate it.

this isn't to suggest that people who do this are Bad People. i think it's hard to avoid under capitalism, and sadly sometimes it is necessary for survival--but that last point is important when considering there are people who can't, and that's why capitalism kills disabled people so much.

grinding yourself down to the dust and being resistant to breaks/rest/basic care of your body isn't just bad for your own sake but bc engaging in this shit all the time is indicative of deep internalized ableism and if you are able-bodied you have probably alienated a disabled person by doing it

i'm getting some silicone gel but i don't mind my scars being noticeable and also my surgeon was very upfront with me that it's not worth dropping a bunch of cash on this. it's just wild to see the skincare industry plague of "if i buy five products i will defeat my genetics" manifest like this

Case in point: I have seen far, far more condemnations of leftists and anarchists supposedly discouraging people from the rallies yesterday than I have any radicals actually doing so...
