“[Trump] is starting to realize Putin is playing him...if you’re Donald Trump and you think you’re the one who plays everyone, that’s got to suck.”” @juliaioffe.bsky.social on Trump ruling out the idea of a meeting with Putin after hitting Russia with sanctions.

The #NoKings protests were good, but need to attract wider support, focus on core issue of Trump’s threat to US democracy, get elites behind it, and be sustained over the long haul, to build momentum and achieve success. This is Americans fight alone, but we all have a stake in its success.

Young adults and students: if you’re around tomorrow and are open to talking about how the loss of SNAP benefits would impact you, I’d be grateful to get to hear your stories.
For a story: looking to speak to experts about how losing SNAP benefits will impact people, especially young people. If you have solutions or tips on how people can plug into their communities, find resources, etc., that would be especially appreciated. [email protected] or DM

A president imposing tariffs (on us) because he’s annoyed (by a real ad not fake) is not how the law works.

We are off the cliff, folks. 🇺🇸

I really think that we need to talk more about the fact that Republicans have basically quietly abolished the House of Representatives

6 hours of payroll
I just heard on Meidas Touch, that the money donated to the military covers about 36 minutes of pay/every member of the US forces. (It might not be 36 minutes but it was a ridiculous amount of time)

This line, most cynically done by NYT’s Ross Douthat, is just the worst attack ad by pseudo intellectual whitewashing feint designed for Fox News talking points. None of it makes sense if you look for more than two seconds.
I can’t believe there are not one but two articles, in major papers, with this dumb framing. It is not NIMBY to express dismay when a big part of the White House is suddenly rubbled

Day 25

78 percent of Americans support extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits that help make healthcare more affordable for folks and families.

Republicans should listen to their constituents and get this done.

Millions of hardworking Americans—including many in red states—are staring down a health care cliff.

The President must work with us to prevent premiums from skyrocketing and to protect families’ access to care.
Don’t tell me you’re ready to reopen the government. You can’t if House members are still on vacation! Isn’t this more than a month?

They don’t even pretend to care. This is the only story. You can’t open the government if the House refuses to show up.

Not often you’ll here this from this account, but: listen to President Reagan on how disastrous high tariffs are for this country!

The amount is meaningless — less than one day of salary. But the principle is important: once the armed services are paid by the oligarchs, they become a private militia, and we no longer have a country.

“History is written by the victors.”

The Trump White House just rewrote it — adding “Hunter’s cocaine,” “Obama’s Muslim Brotherhood,” and “Trans Day of Visibility” to the official timeline. Not history… propaganda with a .gov domain.
