N95s can prevent more than just Covid!

They stop colds, flus and other airborne illness.

They’re also highly effective against pollen, pollution, wildfire smoke and environmental triggers.

Many maskers haven’t been sick in years.

Respirators are pretty amazing.

I'm in a pit of Baseball Despair today and trying to find the positives, and I have to say: there are SO many people I know - friends, family, acquaintances - who had never watched baseball before this year and are now in love with it because of the 2025 Blue Jays. They were something special.

Watching the World Series, one thing is clear: North American pro sports REALLY need to up their chanting game. It's not just pathetic, it's downright irritating.

Meanwhile, in Hamburg… (FC St. Pauli)

This is the best summary you’ll ever read.

Print it.
Repeat it.
Make it go viral.

There is no effective treatment for Long COVID. No good explanation for it, either. And there is but one single way to prevent it:

Don’t.
Catch.
COVID.
It's not as if treatment is being withheld from us. There IS no long COVID treatment. The only way not to get long COVID is not to get COVID. Wearing a respirator is your best defense against COVID, better than vaccines which only protect you from severe illness and death from acute infections.
Australia: Nurse among patients calling for better access to long COVID treatment

Former ICU nurse Julie Mirtschen, 43, from Port Macquarie, developed long COVID after back-to-back flu and COVID infections in March 2020.

Researchers say she’s among up to 870,000 Australians living with long COVID.

"Pleurire" : mon nouveau mot depuis 2-3j.

Comme quand @cdubesante.bsky.social confond cardiologues et chirurgiens cardiaques, et qu'on réalise que c'est cette incompétence-là qui nous est imposée par la force, sans aucune intention de reculer.

Cities outside the U.S. that have produced the most NBA players

Toronto: 18
Melbourne: 13
Belgrade: 12
Montreal: 11
Paris: 11

No other foreign city reaches double digits.

This is the only take that matters. It’s not about making COVID a boogey man. It’s about clawing our way towards a broader truth. It’s about keeping one another safe from preventable outcomes.

Viruses are not bacteria. There’s no such thing as a benign viral infection. We need #CleanAir. Now.

The difference is humility.

Dogmatic minimizers who tear-down peer-reviewed studies by while offering no explanation for either Long COVID or the spike in Strep A, strokes, MIs since 2020 says a lot:

We don't know; they don't care.

Keep on keeping on. We'll get there.
I mean. I don’t really know either… but it doesn’t look good so far… and reasonable extrapolation from current data makes me think it’s going to result in long term health impacts quite *commonly*.

Depuis la COVID Legault charge la barque contre les MD. Des dizaines de personnes mourraient par jour, les MD étaient au bat (avec tout le personnel de soin) et Legault disait que les MD n'en faisaient pas assez.

I might send them something later this week. This fits with the whole way that Long COVID is being underfunded. Recent guidelines also soft endorsed exercise/CBT. If brain retraining is propped up as a solution, then you can justify not funding innovative research.

I interact with thousands of people with Long COVID daily and not one has fully recovered. The truth is Long COVID is a rollercoaster of symptoms changing day-to-day/week-to-week.
At times I feel good, but recovered? No.

Am I surprised the CBC platformed a former colleague to promote her book in a feel-good fluff piece with no scientific input? No

Or that said colleague is convinced that brain retraining is what healed her? Also no

Because when it comes to Long COVID, there is still far too much we don't know
Snake-oil cures are a problem even in regards to something as well understood as cancer—as this 2024 study illustrates—so just imagine the market for something as nebulous as Long COVID. Gill Deacon's experience does not evidence make.
