They hate disabled people and want to smear us at every opportunity. Whether we are visibly or invisibly impaired.
Delightful quote in the guardian about how you shouldn’t get a free car if you have “ADHD or mild depression” and I just want to point out that…you do in fact not get a free ca for that!

Try as I might, I can't get Reform to answer a simple question about their candidate in the Caerphilly by-election Llyr Powell.

When did he last have contact with Nathan Gill, the party's former leader in Wales who has admitted taking Russian bribes?

Your regular reminder that scrapping ILR for people who have come here and played by the rules, which is what Lam proposes here, is a position supported by 3% of the public
Sunday Times interview Tory "rising star" Katie Lam

She is clear she wants lots of legal migrants to be told to "go home" so as "to leave a mostly but not entirely culturally coherent group of people"

(The interviewer suggests she is scrapping ILR or stripping people of it)

This is just blood and soil nationalism and it’s genuinely wicked.
Lam has heard the charge that retrospective breaches of past promises to deport those who played by the rules are unfair.

She accepts it is unfair & has "great personal sympathy" for those she will unfairly deport.

She says she believes that fairness should apply to British citizens "alone"

Tory politicians now advocating for the forcible removal of literally millions of the kind of mobile, educated, cosmopolitan workers who are THE ONLY THING that will save the UK population from further decline into helpless senescence.

They want us to die for their racism.

a lot of people have written about the slavery apologism in Doug Wilson's church but not a lot of people have written about the horrific sexual abuse

The UK No Kings sympathy protests may seem a little ironic but it’s No Kings, plural, you’re allowed one.

So pretty much everyone here was already purged or disappeared in the last year; this is just the official confirmation.
So I’ve been busy with a ton of other stuff, but basically, China just purged, basically all, of the senior leadership of the military - He Weidong was CMC Vice Chair, Miao Hua was head of the political department. Seeing some stuff about key branch leadership also going.

Hegseth wants to make his "Christian Nationalist" church the sole church recognized by the Pentagon, and he is terminating chaplaincy contracts with Catholics and mainstream protestants. This is what "freedom of religion" means to Trump.

Oh, to be a Palace Museum (Beijing) cat
@bokane.org my 师妹 who works at the Palace Museum (Beijing) occasionally reports on visits from the palace cats and apparently there is one named 饺子 who takes turns sleeping on everybody’s desks 😁 sadly not an orange cat but a pure white one, so maybe not Gyoza’s brother from another mother

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

The really fun bit in British politics is going to be when people find out that doing an apprenticeship is also correlated with an interest in opening your horizons, tolerance and sometimes moving away to fulfil work ambitions.

Okay, so let’s take it from the top. Lion el Jonson is the guy who firebombed a Walmart and got away with it. Everyone knows it was him but nobody can prove anything and is too scared to investigate further after the first people who asked questions disappeared.

People will tell you that the left has lost touch with society, but the expected next tory leader is nostalgic for football hooliganism, and the political editor of the Express is calling for MPs to be deported.

Gill and co sure do seem to hang out with people on one side of the political spectrum a lot.

Past/present WSI members have appeared at the far right Gen Z networking conference Scyldings, attended Tommy Robinson rallies, had jobs at VoxPopuli Media, and have been positively RT'd by Edward Dutton.

Weird that the WSI seems almost exclusively to be being promoted by Reform in multiple council events now, despite Jess Gill telling me that they work "with politicians across the political spectrum"

Marvin stared at the painting of his great grandfather, who had survived two wars, worked three jobs to support his fourteen children, and eventually died saving a box full of kittens from a fire, and thought to himself, "You know, if I knocked that over, I could sleep on it."
Women bishops took much longer to happen, though (Wales allowed them first despite lagging over women's ordination).
Environmental historians of China now have to take dragon sightings literally, not just seriously.

(Though it does depend on the kind of magic that exists!)
Ngl, I am very confused about the readings of Jonah that focus on the correctness or otherwise of its depiction of whale biology as the most important thing about it.
Iirc it's the one where the Devil is like "aha, Jesus, you have fallen into my clutches in accordance with my keikaku! Wait, this situation has not developed entirely to my advantage...", but the name escapes me.

(I think it's just an apocryphal gospel; it makes too much sense to be Gnostic one.)
A lot of this is downstream of a deliberate reaction against Biblical studies and criticism during the late 19th and early 20th century which has consequences for how they see things like evolution. It's a comparatively recent thing, and you're probably right about the bad faith it creates.
