If Bluesky bought me this pup, I would post pup content in exchange

That’s all I can offer?

But these times are BLEAK

It’s not the worst offer

Two years I've been after this shot 😆

(Proper photos tomorrow. Lady Aurora has made her dramatic entrance in the most amazing green and purple gown and I am going to be busy)

Cursing is rarely a symbol of low class. It's often a mark of high authenticity.

Evidence: Swearing predicts higher rates of honesty and integrity. It signals a willingness to prize candor over courtesy.

A little profanity can show that you're being real and you do give a damn.

I have one now that holds up and inflates by plugging it into the wall. But back in college I had one I used as a bed for a year that started the night inflated where I was on the ground with puffed up sides by morning so I know your pain.

Autumn colours along a creek in Alberta, Canada's Bow Valley. It's Canada's Thanksgiving tomorrow but we are celebrating today. I remain thankful for love, joy, compassion, and the strength to keep moving and seeing scenes like this.

Oh, and the little blurb I came up with for it today:
This is a no-murder mystery about a missing mom and the kid willing to use everything in his piggy bank to find her. What jaded not-really-a-detective-but-keeps-finding-dead-bodies heroine can say no to that?

Hi friends! Happy #Stunday. I'm sorry I've been absent; life has been getting in the way. I hope you're enjoying your #autumn (or spring if you're in the southern hemisphere) and this day!

It's a beautiful fall day in Seattle Washington. Bright orange leaves have fallen onto this path that goes through a tunnel of golden foliage. Green shrubs can be seen in the front with orange foliage on the left and yellow foliage still clinging to a large tree on the right. The same variety of yellow tree continues down to create a tunnel of yellow on this path.

Hey author friends! Please help! I do freelance writing, and I’m trying to find my DC pro and semi-pro writer friends.

How do I find them? Are there Bluesky starter packs, meetup group, professional societies?

How do writers find each other?

This Tumblr user summarizes something I've been feeling/doing lately. Against everything going on, it somehow feels helpful.
User homoquartz writes: as long as you smile and nod, people are satisfied. it’s just to show that you are nice and there with good intentions. we’re small in a big world and have to rely on other people to be decent to us. so we do our little human dance to each other to say, “i’m not here to hurt you. here’s something we have in common, like the weather or sports or itchy sweaters, so we both know we’re on the same team. we both agree on a basic fact, like that it is rainy or that being itchy is uncomfortable, and this proves we can get along. i’m being light-hearted and non-threatening right now."
Small talk isn't to get to know a person. It's just a greeting to affirm you're buddies in the universe. I am motivated by wanting the other person to know I am friendly, so I have gotten pretty decent at small tall when I used to hate it.

Let’s brighten up your Sunday morning with this phone abstract from the ferry back to Skye
A square image of a yellow van parked on the green floor of the ferry with a yellow strip across the bottom of the image. You can only see the bottom half of the van with part of the wheel on the left

I always find it interesting to see photos of people when they were younger than when I knew about them. Diane Keaton in my mind is always late middle-aged. I had the same weirdness seeing photos of a young Betty White.

Diane Keaton in her Manhattan apartment with Buster, an Abyssinian, photographed by Jill Krementz in 1977
black & white photograph of young Diane Keaton smiling and standing next to a white refrigerator in a barren-looking kitchen. her cat Buster is crouched on top of the fridge playing with/swatting her hair in the upper right hand corner. she's wearing a long skinny white scarf with a dot-grid pattern, a high-neck white blouse with an ascot/kerchief around the neck, and a black blazer/skirt or blazer dress over what looks like a vest

I do love a crumble. And at this time of year, there's nothing better than a homely apple crumble, laced with cinnamon or nutmeg or in this recipe, marsala wine. Can't wait to try this one from @nigella.bsky.social! 🍎👇

Hey, sci-fi and fantasy folks, if you happen to know folks who are involved with various estates in the field, do tip them a hat about the Anthropic settlement. Agencies do not get $ out of the deal and may not remember to talk to estate clients. My agent was worrying about estates not being alerted

Realized this week that the Set game I've had for 30+ years that I can't play with others lest they hate me can be played as solitaire. So much better to do while randomly unwinding with TV than scrolling around online.

Not a 95% reduction, because as always people are always right that there's a product problem but often wrong about what will solve it, but those two points of discoverability are the two main sources of social norm cluster collisions

A billion dollars is the socio-political equivalent of a loose nuke, and we should work as ruthlessly and diligently to prevent the acquisition of the former as we do the latter.

“The problem with billionaires isn’t that they’re hoarding money that would otherwise pay for a Scandinavian social utopia. It’s that their money has become a source of wildly distorted political power that allows a few men with extremist views to wreak havoc on the rest of us.”
