the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

There’s basically one set of conditions where shining lasers at aircraft is a good idea, and that’s when the aircraft in question is actively attempting to kill you and the laser is the best thing you’ve got. We aren’t there yet, you do not want us to get there. Don’t shine lasers at aircraft.
