It might be improbable, but the Greens have no less realistic a possibility of forming a majority government than Reform do. Going from 5 to 325 seats is absolutely doable if the main parties collapse and the votes go the right way.

Interesting how Ministers think minorities with a protected characteristic should be protected & from what.
It’s unacceptable that Jewish students feel they need to conceal their identity on campus.
Yet this doesn’t apply to Trans students & Gender Critical people who attack their right to exist 🤔

Reinstate Jessie. Also, I am coming to the UK this week to talk about my book, which shares the history of trans people and also the way they were targeted by Nazis (something #JK denies.) If Rowling wants to pick on someone, I’m here for it and I’ll be in London… I have the receipts and I am ready.

I try to avoid open praise for individual politicians, but this is an extraordinary advert. The history is spot on and the message, both historical and electoral, is unambiguous.

Compared to the flaccid quisling statements sharted out by mainstream Dems and Labour, this is staggering.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Here is a line i hope some folks will take if called to speak on radio or TV about it.

If you have the spoons for it, your very first remark (irrespective of the opening question) is: "i am glad you invited me here today to talk about the wholly avoidable death..." (reference coroner's report)
parkesland.bsky.social
That's reassuring to hear. However, I think you may encounter resistance - or an effort to cleave transphobia away from such an intervention - from the incoming EHRC head and much of the rest of the government.
parkesland.bsky.social
This is admirable, but I'd be remiss if I didn't point out the absolute avalanche of transphobic abuse on X that the platform has just outright endorsed.

If your coalition is going to be worth anything, it must address the full spectrum of abusive behaviour online.

#UK #TransRights #Suicides Just in case anyone had any doubt, this happened under the "new service specification". Endless waiting lists which aren't addressed and being denied healthcare, all based on an ideologically driven report riddled in bias and basic methodological research errors.

Ever since I finished Question Time, Reform have massively been on the attack.

Including a rant from Richard Tice entirely designed to distract from Reform and Russia.

Everyone should know about Nathan Gill, the bribes from Russia and the link to Reform.

This is such a crucial contribution.

Cass' zeal to deny trans healthcare to kids is a threat to trans healthcare to all, especially those 18-25. The conspiracy theories of 'rapid onset gender dysphoria' and 'social contagion' that Cass' work is premised on taints its approach to all trans people.

Part 2 of the Gender Clinic Files is out, looking at the impact if Cass recommendations for adult services were introduced, affecting more than 32k young trans adults just from the current waiting list.

Huge thanks to @wearequeeraf.com & @whatthetrans.com for their work on this series.
Majority of adults waiting for Trans+ healthcare are under 25
Two-thirds of Trans+ people would lose care if all Cass Review recommendations implemented

“As the borders between science and advocacy blur, fringe ideas with no evidentiary basis or mainstream medical support increasingly carry the potential to drive policy” - Excellent piece by @evanurquhart.bsky.social on Genspect’s recent campaign to repathologise “transgender identification”.

A fringe group wants the field of psychiatry to regress back to the days when stereotypes and prejudices resulted in mental illness diagnoses for marginalized populations.

In a new reported piece, @evanurquhart.bsky.social examines Genspect's call for the re-psychopathologization of trans identity.
Hate Group Calls for Re-Labeling Transness as Mental Illness — Assigned
A fringe group with no expertise pushes the field of psychiatry to regress to a pre-scientific, prejudice-soaked view of trans people. It coincides with the far-right political agenda.

Ooh, I teach a whole course on this! 😆🤓

One of the biggest shocks students get is how much culpability Jimmy Carter and James Callahan have for the institutionalization of neoliberalism. Quinn Slobodian does great work on this generally. Some of Adam Tooze's stuff touches on it, too.

Excellent research here. Though it isn't the focus, what Dr Pagel warns of has occured with frightful efficacy in DSIT, EHRC, and DSHC over trans rights. All three have been targeted by malicious actors seeking trans people's marginalization.

The UK’s independent scientific bodies are highly vulnerable to politicisation - over the past 5 months I've been working with @martinmckee.bsky.social to map out their vulnerabilities and it's not good news.

Today our report is published!

Electrolysis for facial hair removal/ SRS is vital to many transfeminine transitions. It is the only permanent method, and the only method suited for pale hair.

It is however difficult to access, as a full course can be lengthy (100~200 sessions) and costly (£10~20k).

It will be incredibly funny if Labour's entire strategy, that you have to vote for them because they're the only viable laternative to reform, falls apart because they're behind the Greens.
