Drayy is amazing and treated me to these dragon age inquisition tarot cards. they only came with the special edition release of the game in 2014, they were still sealed ❤️

(I generally gave my players flavorful descriptions of the mechs, and in-universe had it explained that their systems would assign the closest archetype to each mech as readouts to match what they saw on the game map)

NPCS AND INFORMATION
It’s important to provide some information about your
NPCs to players. Specifically, no matter their custom
name, the class and template of your NPCs should
always be public knowledge, available to players
upon request. By sharing this, players are encouraged
not just to learn the game, but also to learn the
specific capabilities of different NPC types and tactics
against them. The result is that the capabilities of
certain NPCs feel fairer.
For example, the first time players encounter the
Royal Guards battle group, they should always know
(if they ask you) that these are elite aces accom‐
panied by grunt bombards.
Other information, such as the details of specific
systems, weapons, and customizations, can be hidden
from the players to begin with or also public knowledge,
depending on how you want to run your game.

No, archetypes should be known, but ideally the players arent deep diving the npc stats at all times. Scans give more detailed info, and hopefully your GM keeps factions reliable so you can plan your loadouts. "Assault" should be all you know till a scan, and maybe obvious dufficulty things (elite)
