just looking at movies--including individual releases and a handful of boxed sets as "one" each: 586

I need to do a real count sometime, bc that's 24 Bond movies, 10 Star Trek movies, 6 Star Wars movies, and a bunch of horror collections, so it's gotta be well over 650

and then anime and TV...

just to add my two cents about physical media - your favorite website, streamer, or online archive could vanish tomorrow due to any number of deliberate or accidental actions on the part of any number of people or organizations. Physical media? You have to destroy it YOURSELF

again, we do -- i do -- the problem is systemic in a way that "just write about it" does not and cannot solve. the whole entire surrounding support structure for distribution and readership has changed in such a way that it's not the same now as it was in 2023 as it was in 2019 as it was in 2012.
