Extremely magnanimous of johnson to do everything in his power to prevent the release of the totally exculpatory epstein files, all to prevent democrats from embarrassing themselves. Truly a leader for all americans
Mike Johnson: "Suddenly now, they've somehow convinced themselves that the Epstein files will be damaging to President Trump and Republicans in some way that they've imagined, and so they feign outrage."

I don't think you can find a better example of the unwillingness to update priors because of political bias. They said the rallies would be radical anti-American hatefests. It was the the opposite, and on a massive and undeniable scale. Nevertheless...

You have to be willing to walk away from these guys if they let you down, just as a matter of basic self respect. It's not a fandom. You're hiring them to do a job or not.
I liked the Platner ads too but I think there's a difference between "guy who had some bad reddit posts a decade ago" and "ex-Blackwater merc who still has a Nazi tattoo." Sucks bigtime that he's the only one taking positions and talking policy I like, but them's the breaks!

Look, folks, he's the *Speaker* of the House, not the Listener of the House or the Watcher of the House.

You can't expect him to be aware of major events that are unfolding right before him.

i am even willing to cede that it's *possible* he was straight-up too dumb to realize that it was a hardcore Nazi tattoo until recently, but I also think that means you are therefore too dumb to be a senator
we're not talking about a generic skull and crossbones tattoo here - Graham Platner's tattoo appears to be a straight-up 3rd SS Panzer Division Totenkopf.

not subtle!

Dems, I bet of you, STOP VOTING FOR TRUMP JUDGES JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
By a vote of 66-32, the #Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Harold D. Mooty III to be US District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama.
I'm not a particularly good person but I have never knowingly socialized with anyone with a Nazi or Nazi-adjacent tattoo, nor would I willingly do so. This is not a high bar to clear.

Got scolded for “falling for an oppo dump” but I’m not really that concerned if his “women are responsible for their own rapes” and “my Nazi tattoo can be explained” news cycle is from Mills’ leaks. These are genuinely really bad!
yeah it is not “liberal censoriousness” to think that you shouldn’t nominate the guy without the sense to not get a nazi tattoo and then not remove it

"Is this person a dues-paying member of Atomwaffen Division?" and "Has this person demonstrated the judgment you'd like to see from someone who seeks immense power?" are different questions.

Some questions which would have struck me as obvious to ask here:

"When did you realize it was a Nazi tattoo?"
"How did you feel when you realized it was a Nazi tattoo?"
"What are you going to do about the Nazi tattoo?"

I hate to give Pod Save clips of this, but they're the guy who has the footage of him blasted at a party, shirtless, totenkopf on his right pec.

Ok, let's say you accidentally got a nazi tat. Would you not break the speed limit driving to the shop to get it covered up the second you found out

The dominance-masculinity theory of sexual value is one in which men gain status through sex *explicitly* by overcoming resistance.
the thing that struck me reading about this in various places (chiefly Ashley Mears' excellent book) is that many want the *illusion* of consent and equality - they want to believe that these 19-year-olds are genuinely excited about the prospect of sex with them, and that their skill won them over.

See the issue is that Trump ran on releasing on the Epstein files, and Bondi said she had them sitting on her desk ready to go, and then Elon Musk tweeted that Trump was in them and they were suddenly deemed a hoax and Ghislaine was moved to a spa prison, so you can understand the fresh intrigue
Mike Johnson: "Suddenly now, they've somehow convinced themselves that the Epstein files will be damaging to President Trump and Republicans in some way that they've imagined, and so they feign outrage."

Just remembering that the DoJ assigned A THOUSAND FBI agents and other personnel to comb through the Epstein files to flag mentions of Trump and have refused to reveal what they found

Who is this for? Who could possibly be persuaded that Bill Barr (spin doctor on the Mueller Report) and Alex Acosta (scandalized over his own involvement in the Epstein investigation) say Trump is clean?
Comer: "They are both Republicans and both former Trump cabinet secretaries. And guess what? Those interviews completely debunked the Democrats' smear against President Trump. Barr stated there was no evidence that President Trump was involved in Epstein's criminal activities. Acosta confirmed ... "
