Wants to ban masks on civilians/curb protest, loves AI/wants to force it into govt, ensures wealthy he won’t tax them, wants to expand the surveillance state and police funding, paints himself as a Trump-style strongman/bully - I’ve told y’all before and I’ll say it again: Harrell is a republican

Harrell says yes—"what we're trying to do is make sure that masks with the intent to camouflage themselves to exert force over people is not what we want and we'll prove it that so I'm all for that."

The Seattle mayor Bruce Harrell wants people who are protesting the neo-Gestapo to be identified and prosecuted. Don’t vote Harrell.

Please vote for Katie Wilson when ballots go out in a few weeks, Seattle.

Huge applause at Suarez' question about whether Harrell will require protesters to take off their masks like he wants to make ICE take off their masks

Yikes, he said yes! This is a serious civil liberties concern. There is a vast difference between agents of the state and individual protesters.

Also, I often mask up in public places to keep myself from getting sick, which will only become more necessary now that Trump has decimated the CDC.

Thankfully, some of yesterday's CDC firings have been rescinded.

But this should be a major scandal, not business as usual in this shitshow of an administration. It's either spectacular incompetence or an effort to make even politically untouchable positions feel precarious to those in them.

100s of #CDC employees were notified Friday they were being fired — RIF'd. The firings cross multiple parts of the agency, endangering its core mission of keeping Americans safe.
Saturday, some were informed they were RIF'd in error.

ICE abducted a 15-year-old autistic boy during a bathroom break and kept him hidden for nearly a week.
His mother thought he was missing. Even local police couldn’t find him because ICE never told anyone they had him.

He was selling fruit with his mom when he asked to use the restroom.

The promotion of pseudoscience about a supposed “cause” or “cure” of autism and the destruction of special education (and all of public education, really) are part of the same project. It is a fascist attempt to expel certain people from the body politic, based in eugenics.
sarapartridge.bsky.social
There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

The mass firings at the CDC tonight drive home the fact that no one is coming to save us

But we can save each other

Wear a mask. Ideally a respirator like an N95

Even if you’re vaccinated. Even if you’re “not worried”

It protects you but it also protects everyone else

Bonus? Less colds & flus!

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

Went to the airport to pickup the Flotilla heroes who returned home after being kidnapped by Israel. Can’t stop thinking about these people going on little boats, trying to deliver food. Against all odds. Doing it anyway. The Portlanders who came out to embrace them.

There are so many good people.

permits have *cratered* under harrell

YOY we're down over 50% - and we've been trending down since harrell was elected

the mayor's years-late & visionless comprehensive plan has exacerbated this issue. harrell is not a houser.

the mayor's transmitted housing levy was also inadequate.

it should have been bolder.

while the mayor likes to laud the number - the levy will actually produce less housing than the previous levy - when our city was less populous and less wealthy.

oops.
