If anyone has anything spare, it would be wonderful to help Tam. I, selfishly, want her back able to work because we need people with her experience in the medical system instead of the callous people currently in charge.

Also she's cool and kind and wonderful.
If anyone from the ex-bird site remembers me and has a few dollars spare to throw my way it would mean the world as I no longer have my job as a General Practice Registrar due to being unwell and am going into hospital for my bipolar.

♥️♥️♥️

$11.5 billion. That's how much Australia's teachers contribute in unpaid labour every year.

Our teachers are overworked, undervalued and facing increasingly difficult and unsafe classroom conditions.

It's no wonder they're abandoning the profession in droves. #WorldTeachersDay

Tl;dr: the fact we were dealing with Hurricane Melissa is probably "more climate change than not," but the component of the storm that is the "climate part" of it is non-trivial but not massive, and the event could definitely have happened anyway. That's not how people are talking about it on here!

48 hour rentals are annoying.

what if I want to start a movie tonight but don't want to commit to watching the second half tomorrow night?
If you see this, quote with a robot that isn't from "Star Wars", "Star Trek", "Doctor Who", or "Transformers".
I used to see them while walking to lunch back when I was working at a gamedev studio in an industrial estate in the north of England, they were so cute!

Gamedev friends, this is more proof that we are not to blame for the current state of our industry.

These are the same executives that follow every trend blindly and ignorantly.

Aggressive MTX, everything is a live service, DRM that only punish paying players, NFTs, and now AI.

What a shitshow.
I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.

I'm gonna create a free cloud backup service where you can upload anything you want but it must be unencrypted (and legal of course) but in the terms of use I get to browse it because I'm nosy af and want to see what crap you have on your computer.

Oh neat, Rust is about to stabilise u{N}::carrying_add and friends. Glad they didn't just do it for wider words where it's handy for bignum code, I'm going to find the u8 version handy for some 6502 tooling.

But they were, all of them, deceived, for another Natural Flavor was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret a master Flavor, to control all others.

for context: the second edition of "Observability Engineering" starts off swinging with an opinionated chapter called "The Fundamentals of Building Good Software".

which begs the question... what IS ✨ good software ✨?

i'll drop my answers 👇 but curious to hear others.
@charity.wtf asked a great question on LinkedIn today. Her question was: "What is ✨ good software ✨?"

I'd love to hear your answers, but I'd also like to share mine. So if you'll allow me a moment of indulgence... 🧵
