I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.

You can’t burn your bridges with people who are committed to racism. The bridges never existed in the first place. That’s hard to understand for people who don’t have to navigate at least one situation a week where they or their loved ones are treated as subhuman. But it’s true.

I also had to get it privately, despite being considered clinically vulnerable enough to get the free flu jab. Next they will complain that too many people being on sick leave is harming the economy, and never bother connecting the two.
