On the bus to the final day of the squid conference, I can hear people speaking Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, & English in 3 different accents. And we all work on squid octopus and cuttlefish 🥹

I know this is literally how international conferences work, but I just think that’s so wonderful.

Interesting fact. Libraries count on a certain percentage of their books being out on loan. If everyone brought their library books back at once, the library wouldn’t have the shelf space for them all.

Dad was a university prof...he knew

Mom did not finish her final semester as she was very pregnant with me... She understood.

They met at a Jesuit liberal arts school. (Ultimately the same one where my brother met his wife.)

That's not to say my family is not severely fucked up...

The Jesuit liberal arts school I attended would not let one declare a major until after their 2nd year. A VERY wise policy.
