I just got my covid and flu jabs. Let's hope sore arms are all I have to worry about health wise this winter.

If you can afford a covid booster, get one. If you can't... get in touch. I can afford to cover a few.

This is such a good point. I can't afford £100 for a covid booster. I could and would cheerfully pay £15 for one as I do flu. I also don't understand why so many aren't eligible for an NHS booster this year considering it didn't miraculously stop being covid over the summer

This makes me want to break things. If it's such a no-big (it actually is a big that fucking disabled me), and you're equating it to flu (again, not remotely like), then why aren't the prices comparable?

(They should be free but given that's not going to happen, well)

I don't intentionally bait people into thinking I am a Very Online Leftist (which I am, but I digress) but I always immensely enjoy the double-take I get when people ask me how I "got so woke" and the answer is literally "the Bible"

I'll never forget that Britain had the best pandemic response potential *in the world* and we didn't use it because our PM was busy writing a book about Shakespeare and our health secretary didn't want to miss the Cheltenham Festival.

I already thought these looked like cool little guys before I saw what their name is
I think they're garlic grinders or something, but they affix to the table and you turn a handle to either rotate a drum in the front or grind whatever's in a sort of basin they've got - which means they all have wide bases, thin forward-leaning necks and robot heads with different kinds of mouth. The name for all of these is given as "SPONG"

Goop? Surely not!

Looks like Mattel really does need to re-learn "parents don't like goop because it gets in the carpet" once a decade after all.

Watching dressage all day, the only sport where at least once an hour an athlete will fully take a shit during their routine and it's just nbd.

I spoke to an engineer who announced, unbidden, that he was a Reform supporter. He's angry that his son can't afford a house and blames institutional parties. He wants to "break the system" and said that Britain "needs a Trump".

The worst part was he wasn't a mad knuckle dragger. Just... wrong.

Okay, "Zap" makes sense. He's got a laser. But WTF did that paratrooper get up to to wind up with "Crazylegs"?

Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. It’s become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.
SHOCK POLL:
NIGEL FARAGE WILL BE PM TOMORROW
IN an amazing poll conducted
by The Pointless Polling Company, it was revealed that voters' intentions
may well change over the next three and a half years and at present it's 100 percent impossible to guess what the next government might look like.
However, 99 percent of journalists
agree that it would be much more fun if we had an election tomorrow and everybody resigned and everything was chaos and Farage had a go at being PM, just for the hell of it, because it was so much fun when
Brexit happened and then the government kept falling every five minutes and we could write endless pieces about (cont. p94)

Let’s make different political choices.

For decades now British people have been told to simply swallow austerity. They’ve been told that the NHS needs cuts, that libraries need closing and that child poverty can’t be tackled.

Greens say: Bullshit!
Join the Green Party today.

He spent most of his previous term pestering European governments to massively increase their military spending (i.e. buying US-made weapons) to meet their NATO obligations. That alone should be disqualifying.
