Cry me a fucking river.
I will never, ever expect this to apply to Australia.
I can't express how happy it makes me feel to see politicians who actually believe in things and will stand for them winning big.

It's neat. But I'm now bracing for the "but I paid to install my own solar - yet these people get it for free?" crowd to be driven insane by the idea.
Pretty sure I have it in my library from some XCOM bundle.

Epic added The Simpsons theme to Fortnite as a “Non-Union Re-Record” lmfao these people
I missed it when it first came out and have regularly pondered playing it because the trailers were so good.

It is still possible to do audio that doesn't just squash the dialogue into a mumbled unintelligible mess.

The technology hasn't been lost.
Everyone should watch Alien Earth - not just because it's the best the Alien has been in some time.

Because the sound mix on that show is beautiful. Every creak, drip, and hiss come through as you'd expect. But the dialogue is perfectly mixed - from a whisper to a shout, you can understand it all.

They are also intentionally conflating machine-learning and generative AI slop to confuse and try to make GenAI seem necessary. Google Maps traffic stuff is machine learning, not GenAI, for example. Auto-correct is too. Don't let them make you lose the thread. GenAI slop is slop.
the nyt posts this stuff like avoiding AI for 48 hours is hard and meanwhile i have literally never once intentionally used an AI program for anything ever

Truly a radicalising moment, even if the advice was (presumably intentionally) incorrect.

But the idea that our shit cunt Landlord would get to vote and we wouldn't? Infuriating.
Renting and disconnection from local govt is a good one.

I remember being advised by Boroondara Council that I wasn't eligible to vote in a local govt election because I only rented and voting was only for rate payers.

My hot traffic engineering take: More urban roadside objects should be fixed, immobile objects.

Driver's shouldn't be hitting shit on an urban street at a speed where the object being fixed matters.

If a driver is, that's a driver problem.

Absolutely deadly behavior causing another crash on Spruce Street at 5th st early this morning. This is on the busiest bike lane in Philly with over 1,500 riders who use it daily.

We deserve so much better than paint and flexposts, we deserve real protection.
Good luck with that. The consolidation of that industry into a dwindling number of massive multinational providers continues apace.

What had been Toll had been going OK since the Japan Post acquisition. But the pandemic era sale to a private equity firm feels like it has really cratered it.
