We must be a nation that welcomes refugees, immigrants, sojourners, and fellow travelers or we are nothing.

Free 100% winning message for any Democratic presidential candidate:

“I will undo literally everything that asshole did, as quickly as possible, and prosecute the hell out of his accomplices. And him however and wherever we can.

Minute one: we bulldoze the old man’s stupid ballroom.”

WINNER.

Still appalled at how paltry and terrible the NYT coverage of the protests were and how nobody there feels any responsibility to address the criticism. This was not something that caught them off guard. This was many levels of decisions.

Millions of people across the country get out and protest with a single message.

The fine minds of the NYT: This is foreign to me. I don't know where it comes from.
Just insane thing for a NYT editor to say publicly:
In the same way they have convinced themselves that sex with women is gay, they have convinced themselves that the White House is un-American.

I keep looking at the construction damage on the White House and I have no sense, none at all, that that man won’t just tear down the whole thing. NYC has lived with his various construction crimes for a long time - I am unlikely alone in this.
Lived down in the Piedmont (Chapel Hill/Durham) for 16 years, don't remember ever seeing this. Sounds really interesting!
Maybe the best work by two great comics creators.

The video was at the level of a joke that SOUTH PARK would reject as too dumb, vulgar, and over-the-top, and the Diaper Don is forcing his entire party to endorse it.
Q: What does it say that president released a video of him pooping on the American people?

MIKE JOHNSON: You can argue he's probably the most effective person who has ever used social media. He's using satire to make a point. He's not calling for the murder of his political opponents.

I've never seen a word-to-insanity ratio like this before
Chip Roy: "The truth is the marxist, radicals, and Islamists the Democratic Party promoted this weekend, they cannot handle the truth. The truth is that there is a king and that king is Jesus. And the president has been willing to say it, & Charlie Kirk was willing to say it & he got killed for it."

This…Trump’s behaviour is now so obscene that mainstream media in the US - and I might add the UK - have decided it must be hushed up.
as far as just messaging goes that video is probably the most embarrassing thing any president has done on the world stage in my life

and the fact that the sunday shows wont even describe it? total abdication of their responsibility

Remember April 2009 when about 250,000 people took to America’s streets in Tea Party rallies and the media was like “oh man, the Dems are in trouble?” Approximately 28X as many people took to the streets to protest Trump yesterday. Didn’t even make the NYT front page.
In April of 2009 I observed the Tea Party rally in Salem. As this front page story says, there were a couple hundred people there. This past weekend in Salem there were roughly 2-3000 people at the Hands Off rally. Yet the Tea Party coverage seemed to take that event far more seriously.
I feel similarly about "a quick survey about your experience". Bitch, I used to get *paid* to tell you about my experience.

Same happened at ours. I'm effectively incapable of estimating numbers of people, but I assume somewhere between 100-200 protesters in our tiny rural KY town; lots of supportive honks, some oppositional sentiment, but folks who purposefully created a danger by speeding up got tickets for it.
Big shoutout to the Greenfield MA PD, who were not just respectful and supportive of today's rally, but ran down and ticketed the guys in the pickups who dangerously sped through our intersection. I thanked one of them on the way out and they thanked me for protesting. Another world is possible.

Amazing that “No kings and no Nazis” is suddenly a controversial slogan and up for debate in 2025. These are the two most basic creeds of American history.
