I have heard from staff and their unions that workers at the City of Minneapolis have been abducted by ICE while on the job or while coming to and from work. This lays out clearly why the City must be vigilant in the enforcement of the separation ordinance.

My schedule's opening up a bit in a few weeks. If anyone has some music they're making to benefit Minneapolis and/or people negatively impacted by the fascist nightmare we're facing, I'd be happy to do some pro-bono mixing and/or mastering. Hit me up with your project and let's talk details.

impeach impeach impeach
This is part of a pattern that is impeachable: Trump cuts previously appropriated Congressional funds, but only to states led by Democrats (California, Colorado, Illinois and Minnesota).
The Trump administration plans to rescind $600 million in public health funds from four states led by Democrats because it finds the grants “inconsistent with agency priorities,” according to documents reviewed by the NYT

My friend Debbie wrote this great thread about the context of Surya Bonaly’s famous backflip and the history of backflips in the sport as well as Surya’s prestigious career.

A large account on here decided to only read every other word and dunk post and that’s why we can’t have nice things
Surya Bonaly is a multi Olympian, world medalist, euros champion, and French national champion, and did it all during a time when #figureskating wasn’t exactly the friendliest to its skaters of color.

But sure, let’s reduce her to fake news about her doing a (really awesome) one footed backflip.

Notable that basically everyone is NIMBY about these, even jerks like Fetterman, who opposes the one planned for Tremont, Pennsylvania. ICE concentration camps pay no taxes while also making huge demands on local infrastructure, everything from water to sewage to power to hospitals.
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

I'm going to lay this marker down: it is not possible to convert a warehouse into humane housing for humans, even by the very bad standards of modern prisons. It would be cheaper to raze and rebuilt. The reason to buy warehouses is that they have no plans to house people humanely.

i keep thinking about this
Years ago, a friend asked me why billionaires want MORE money when they could never spend the tiniest fraction of what they have.

My answer is that they want immunity. The immunity to do literally any horrific they want without consequence.

Nothing I've seen since has changed my mind.

ICE is STILL terrorizing Minneapolis. Nothing has changed. They are still grabbing anyone they choose and abusing them. The only difference is they haven't publicly murdered anyone this week. But someone may have been killed at Whipple.

We all knew from the jump we would be on our own. And that’s why none of us waited.

And when it started going around that rightwing chuds from Twitter were “infiltrating” chats, it didn’t much matter because there’s so many. Most of the really organized areas have more than one for any one thing.

Call it what it is, @nbcnews.com. Concentration camp.
Every time.

The OED defines a concentration camp as “a camp in which large numbers of people, esp. political prisoners or members of persecuted minorities, are deliberately imprisoned in a relatively small area with inadequate facilities.”
👀
The proposed centers are so large that some could house as many as 8,000 detainees at once, according to a DHS spreadsheet of more than 20 potential locations that was verified by NBC News. The largest federal prison in the U.S., for example, has roughly 4,000 inmates.
ICE plans to build mega warehouses for immigration detention spark growing concern
Sources at two government contractors told NBC News they were worried that new warehouses — and the large numbers of immigrants who would be housed in them — would present safety problems.

This is good. I got a business travel friend to donate some of his miles. But we should be hounding delta non stop until they do it for free.
DID YOU KNOW?

If you have Delta Sky Miles, you can donate them to help a kidnapped-and-released person fly home!

They are set free on the streets of El Paso or another Texas town with no phone, no money, nothing at all. Your miles can get them back to their loved ones!

LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum.

Not a free pass for corporate-owned slop engines.
Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams
