I've just gotta say it. Barack Obama is lame as hell, for this and many other things. The man we thought he was in 2008 was half campaign fabrication and half our imagination. Never been more disappointed in somebody in my life.
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

this is to say: you can't successfully shame someone in to overcoming their felt fears around safety - these are things we overcome with our neighbors, friends and families. "Don't call the police" is more than a cool slogan, but a steady practice that takes actual implementation across social lines
been saying this since the George Floyd Uprising of 2020: people are more afraid of the unknowns of a world without police, than they are of the known terror of a world under police.
