Man I wish our Democrats were as cool and forceful as the opposition says they are.

Granted, most people that make that argument, very quickly demonstrate they actually don't give a fuck about the environment. Kind of hard to take someone seriously about their concern for the environment when they think climate change is actually a hoax.

As far as the carbon footprint, you really should stop reading right wing climate change denial websites. EV's do have a slightly bigger footprint in production, but it is very quickly compensated for, because oil production is a massive source for pollution, before your tailpipe spews it out

As already discussed, battery replacement is unlikely needed for most people (very few people keep a car for 20+ years). Tesla has unique issues with body repair - you can't apply that to all EVs, which is the same reason insurance isn't something you can generalize.

Get a Honda Spree - way cheaper

Sounds like a great reason to buy a used Tesla.

No, he isn't wrong on that. With our current battery technology, 15 years or so, no matter how much or little you drive it, the battery eventually fails and needs to be replaced. This is true for hybrids also, btw, but rarely worried over, even though they are just as expensive to replace

There is nothing wrong with firing customers. Just tell him the next time he walks into your office "you're fired"

Subaru CVT's had a problem with stalling when coming to a stop - the TCC would stay engaged causing the engine to get lugged down and stall - was a problem with the torque converter. Not sure if this is similar - I don't work on Nissans

They are also way more fun to drive, have great features, etc. But details.

I do engines and transmissions all the time, so I guess I'm just real lucky.

Some people are absolutely convinced EVs don't make financial sense - and as a mechanic that makes a very good living doing very expensive repairs on ICE vehicles, I'm not going to work real hard on convincing you otherwise.

I bought an EV - because I don't like working on my own stuff.

Head gaskets eventually fail on all cars. Some more quickly than others. You can only go through so many heat cycles before you get a leak.
abnormalwrench.bsky.social
As a person that has dozens several dozen head gaskets on Hondas, you might want to be a little less sure of yourself. But I'm glad your one anecdotal example worked out for you.

Engines and transmissions can last indefinitely if you put enough money into them - that doesn't mean they are cheap. A head gasket job is usually more than a Tesla battery.

Tesla batteries go 200 to 300K miles typically - that is why they have a 120K mile warranty.

Things are changing rapidly. Just 2 years ago I did a trip to Glacier park and there was hardly any charging nearby, did the same trip this year and there was plenty. People don't realize how quickly things are progressing.

Why are blue states paying federal taxes? If they want to weaponize federal funds, then there is no reason to pay into it

I would say, there is a market for 2 door trucks, but it needs to be a lot cheaper than decent 4 door trucks. And that doesn't look to be happening

Went to Naches this weekend. Even at high elevation, felt like I was sucking on a diesel truck exhaust pipe

That goes well with our now 11.5 months of forest fire season!
