All these years later, I have to admit I still don't understand what people online think "gatekeeping" is, beyond the act of ascribing meaning to words.
Today I learned that tax-payer funded, government-run institutions which provide social goods are actually “DIY punk rock.” And that disagreeing with this is “gate-keeping punk.”

TBH one of the biggest structural weaknesses of the left is the fact that so much of the 'intro-to-activism' content kids encounter when they first get involved is total bullshit written by the worst people which then takes years to unlearn (if folks ever do, and many do not).
The fact that Chomsky is an intro into left-wing politics for so many is itself really very problematic, because he essentially politicises people into proto-campist positions

It's great watching everyone aggressively violate copyright to share the contraband 60 minutes video, but it's disappointing that so many people feel the necessity to upload to streaming sites or googledrive/icloud. Everyone should know how to torrent or use onionshare:

If you're not trying actively to disprove your hypothesis, it's not an investigation.
That means considering every possibility, even if unlikely, because when you're combing through millions of people, "unlikely" doesn't mean much.
