Everybody is already complaining about this but it is kind of very frustrating to hear on November 14th that Matthews "could come back in a couple of days from now" but "it could be as long as a week" and then instead he doesn't play until at least November 28th

Honestly he's pretty much got it except for The Last Jedi, which sucks. The fact people hated it for bad reasons does not mean it's good
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

in every generation there are people who want to insist the Beatles weren't actually any good, and it's never tenable. if you're into western popular music, they either invented or reinvented too much of it to deny.
As someone who is this guy's age I can tell you 100% that if you were into Pixies, Nirvana, 120 Minutes stuff, etc. but didn't like the Beatles you had to have worked hard to contort yourself into that special little box. Your enemy, if you absolutely needed one, was hair metal. GTFO here with this.

the most valid complaint about the left in the last 15 years is just how badly ostensibly left-wing people have fucked up art discourse. "look into the camera and say you're exactly the kind of communist i am"-ass criticism
I think we lost some work because authors were afraid to show their weirdnesses, rough edges, to ask uncomfortable questions.
We can debate all day about who got cancelled and whether or not they deserved it, but one thing I have noticed is that a lot of queer YA written from ~2019-2022 has a kind of sterile after-school-special vibe where you can just tell they sanitized the fuck out of it to appease the Twitter hivemind

I don't expect this to happen (Leafs are too mid to get this far down yet) but does anyone know what the pick obligations are if they draft top 5 in 2026 and top 10 in 2027? The protections on the Carlo and Laughton trades imply they'd give the 2028 1st to both BOS and PHI, which requires cloning
