My electrician is a green card holder who's been here since he was a kid. He got married to a citizen, applied for citizenship, went to court for the papers and when he got there ICE kidnapped him and he's been locked up for a month.

Rob Reiner was a supremely gifted icon who forever influenced the course of American cinema. He was also kind-hearted, open-minded, curious, and a fierce advocate for what he believed in. Let us all strive to be more like this fine man.

Rob Reiner was famous for over 50 years and made several beloved movies. Charlie Kirk was a sniveling little podcaster who yelled at college students and most of the country never heard of him. They are not the same

A lovely customer sent in a pic of a gorgeously crocheted hat she made w/ 'Rainbow Magi' & these are a huge hit so they're becoming gifts she's making. I think it's a basketweave stitch w/ a gorgeous ribbing on the bottom.

Always a love letter to receive pics of your projects. 🧶🫶🏾

This is the wave that swept up my book The Breakaways, and it was pissing me off because it felt like such a blatantly fake misdirection for organizing resources. But it's a canary in the coal mine, right? So keep banging the drum to protect books, but bang the bigger drum to protect communities.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 14 is pulling from the cuteness vault to help us all out today; these Sandhill Crane colts were super adorable, and I enjoyed getting some of these unique interactions on camera from an ethical distance 🪶📸 rhenyard.darkroom.com/products/rad...

It’s pretty fucked up to go to bed during a mass shooting with 2 dead then wake up in the morning and learn the death toll has risen to 12 except it was a different mass shooting.

Compare the statement about the antisemitic terror attack in Australia by the Israeli Prime Minister with the one by Zohran Mamdani, and ask yourself who more truly cares about condemning antisemitism, as opposed to using it to promote unrelated politics.

So, El Fasher looks like one of the worst single event atrocities to happen this century so far, but the evidence has come in such a trickle it seems to only now be getting verified
At least 60,000 murdered in Sudanese city, which resembles ‘a slaughterhouse’
Satellite evidence shows extent of paramilitary massacre in El Fasher

Today, I spoke with Kilmar Abrego Garcia and his wife, Jennifer. In April, when I met with him in El Salvador, Trump said he would never set foot in the U.S. again.

This case has never been about one man alone; if the govt can violate the constitutional rights of one, all our rights are threatened.

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

this. i remember when it was created along with DHS (also can be eliminated).
Just a reminder that ICE didn't exist until 2002. It's not some longstanding institution that must be maintained. It was created as a knee-jerk reaction to 9/11, and it could be gotten rid of as easily as it was created.

i want to be clear about this: worker’s rights also includes the right to be free from racist or sexist or gendered abuse at your job.

there is a certain condescension in the idea that “racism should be publicly unacceptable and come with consequences” is an attack on the “working class.”

Part of the Civil Rights Movement was a dignity claim that when you are in public you have a right to be spoken to in a neutral manner. Hamilton v. Alabama. This service worker may hate to serve me Cinnabons, but it is part of her job to serve every customer in the same manner.
ah yes, all workers should have the right to hurl racial slurs at black customers
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:

AP on Trump now, and Biden in June 2022.

For Trump, declining to 36 percent approval is “good news.”

For Biden, holding steady at 41% is “a source of concern.”
