Walking buses are such a great way for kids to get to school safely and socially. 🚶👫

With parents or chaperones leading the way, it’s more than just a walk — it’s a community journey.

Less traffic, more fresh air, and happier mornings all around. 💚

Big win for the 603 bus! 🎉
After months of campaigning, TfL will move the second afternoon service to 4pm from 5 January, so students living and studying along the route can finally use it on their way home.
A small change that means fewer car trips, safer journeys, and a better-used route. 😀

We’ve joined forces across civil society & have written a joint letter to the HM Treasury advising urgent tax reform on the UK’s heaviest, most polluting cars.

We’re calling for change: a straightforward large vehicle levy, that would raise nearly £2bn for vital public investment.

Can we now have a better 603 @london.gov.uk? @greenschoolruns.bsky.social
Building on the success of the Superloop, the express Bakerloop service is making it faster for Londoners to travel between Waterloo and Lewisham by bus and connecting town centres in South East London.

Have you tried the BL1 yet?

Thank you!
I am the consummate car guy. I dedicated my life to creating and adoring them. But I have also learned that life is better when you don’t need one. I’d rather take the bike and/or the train and I love living in a walkable city. It’s not about “taking away your car”, it’s about giving you a choice.
You can be a “car guy” and not like car dependency. You can be a “car guy” and get that too many cars in cities is bad for everyone, including drivers. You can be a “car guy” and be tired of lies & manipulations like “the war on cars.” You can be a “car guy” and know more choice means more freedom.

The more kids are invited to bike, walk and take public transit to school, the safer, healthier and smarter it is for EVERYONE. It’s shocking how much vehicle congestion in cities is actually “driven” by trips to and from schools. #BackToSchool #LetKidsBike #LetKidsWalk cartoon by Yehuda Moon

Baking in car dependency ignores the climate crisis leaving people living with no local amenities or even any public transport within walking distance.

And there’s no mention of how many of these homes are for affordable or social rent.

Our planning system needs some urgent attention.
If each home has three parking spaces, that's three parking spaces worth of land that isn't something else.

Me, trying to work out how Newcastle managed to solve its traffic problems overnight.

Oh yeah, it's the start of the 6 weeks summer holidays.

Which demonstrates that an awful lot of our traffic in the mornings is School Run.

Why did the Council abandon it's #SchoolStreets programme?

Camden consults on a scheme on Fitzjhons Avenue including a cycle lane, crossings, and rain gardens. The local Conservatives sent an email around saying: This road already has a fantastic, mature array of trees and grass verge. The introduction of rain gardens is unnecessary in this context. Today

We are marching right up the hill here is Hampstead 🙄😵‍💫, let's hope to start the descent soon!!!
Do you recognise the 'Hill of Hysteria'?

@betterstreetsforbirmingham.org @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social
Clever new study shows a powerful ‘status quo bias’ prevails re new transport policy. Looks at levels of public fear about this, finds exact inverse of the Goodwin Curve of public support: the “Hill of Hysteria”!

Sad to see so many choose to die on that hill
