Hi, I’m Alan.
In case you’ve missed my last 2 decades on social media, I’m a total car nerd, particularly about the Toyota Yaris, but I also cycle and enjoy hiking.
Trains, buses and public transport/transit are cool too and I think all those should be cleaner, more frequent and cheaper.

Generally speaking, getting a driving licence makes you a better cyclist, and being a regular cyclist makes you a better driver.

This morning I discovered that you should reset the page with Cardle, otherwise it doesn’t update the blobs for the next day.

I got it on the first go. 🤷‍♂️

Impressions #52: “Champions!”

20 years on from his passing, it’s high time I celebrated Richard Burns, World Rally Champion. Not only rally champion though, a really good man who is sorely missed.

This piece is A5 and can be yours for £75+p&p.

At least they weren’t being controlled by the Chinese. 😆
I can’t even work out how you’d solve this either. 🫤
So this happened in Oslo yesterday. Four articulated buses got stuck in a roundabout.

one of the coolest things about ChatGPT is how you can actually just never use it. you can fill your whole entire life with simply not once using it. it's incredible.

Don’t take instructions from an AI bot. But also don’t take instructions from a web site loaded with AI slop. But also don’t bother with the top hits in search because they’re all AI slop. But also don’t bother with books written in the last couple of years because they’re all AI slop.
To be fair, let's update what the other LLMs are doing. First ChatGPT

Ok nosey question: are you a parent with adult kids still living at home, or adult child who’s had to move back (after leaving uni/in a crisis/to save up)? Writing about this for the Guardian & keen to hear (anonymously if needed - DMs open or [email protected],uk) how it’s working...

Even if there was any sort of academic benefit to homeschooling (there isn't), it would be completely offset by the social damage of being raised that way. School isn't just learning academic subjects, it's learning how to leave your home and participate in society.

Hmmm... on aggregate, Denmark has a lower cost of living than the UK, and costs for "20 mins from the capital by regular train" and "That's a long way away" aren't so different...
Once my house in Corby has finally sold, another international move is becoming more tempting.

Re: Motability - totally this. The German brands have higher resale values, so the monthly cost is lower than for cars with a lower list price.
Just seen a post elsewhere about “luxury” cars to be taken off mobility scheme for those on benefits.

Doesn’t make sense to me, when many “luxury” cars can cost less to lease than their equivalent mainstream ones.

Let’s face it, a 1-series or A-Class isn’t really a “Premium Vehicle” these days, is it? 🙄
Motability hopes to take the heat out of criticisms by taking posh cars out of the scheme bit.ly/4ikutWl but convertibles may still be available! 😉

Watching @hubnut.bsky.social’s Ford Ka Mk2 collection vid, and wondering if I should have scrapped one of my black diesel Yaris post ‘Ring trip in 2007.
They might have been slightly cooked and were replaced with EBC Greenstuff (a big deal in 2007) and grooved and dimpled discs.
