It speaks to how normalised the Republicans' fascism has become that a sitting senator can just casually refer to a Muslim Democrat as a jihadist and expect little to no media blowback.

I’m really starting to suspect that most of the tech bros haven’t actually read Tolkien, as they certainly don’t understand it.

The gentle hobbits save the “hard men” of Gondor, largely through compassion and selflessness. Not the other way around. The Christian parable is barely hidden!

Revisiting COMMUNITY, it is pretty striking how perceptive a show that ended two weeks before Trump launched his 2016 campaign manages to be about the idiotic forces that would come to take over America in the ensuing decade.

This is largely it. It didn't matter what Dems said or pushed. The GOP? Trump drove the narrative of what the Dems were supposedly "emphasizing", often claiming it was things they never ever supported. Meanwhile things like Project 2025 were often dismissed as Dems being hysterical
This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.

To the craven "comedians" who are STILL not speaking up: The manager at the Chicago Laugh Factory was arrested by ICE. They filed no charges, he's a US citizen, and his family doesn't know where he is.

They are coming for all of us. Grow a fucking spine and say something while you still can.

Every day we get more evidence that the Republican Party is teeming with white supremacists yet elite institutions refuse to frame this as a crisis that needs the nation’s attention.

The fourth paragraph is politically obtuse, framing this as a battle between Trump’s heartfelt desire to put an “imprint” on the White House versus “the sensibilities of many in Washington.” NO! This is an attack upon the citizenry at large and upon the basic principles of republican governance.
