I did some #GameDev experimenting in #UnrealEngine recently, and I found I could use Instanced Static Meshes to get about 500 or so blades of grass on screen before performance tanked horribly - yet if I used Niagara I could get 5,000 without an issue.
But I'm not sure exactly WHY?

I disagree with the take, but only in the sense that it implies the world of PC and console gaming is not ALSO a world of predatory monetization and low quality.
Admittedly there's a thriving indie scene on PC that isn't about predatory monetization, at least.

I legitimately love the irony of workplaces the world over having hours of mandated (and likely necessary) cyber security training, digital tools training, "using AI in the workplace training" but giving zero training time to "The Difference Between Reply and Reply All on Department-Wide Emails"

Reality is boring science fiction: authors spent years warning us that if we put AI in everything it will eventually try and eat us, but instead it just monitors our behaviour to show us ads whenever we reach for the milk.
