Wasn’t too much of a thing tbh but many of the characters have (or are presumed to have) upper/middle class backgrounds so that didn’t seem odd to me

Josh O’Connor does that rude trope where he rips a page out of a public phone book instead of just learning or writing down the information, Kelly are you trolling me

Posters by Japanese designer Koichi Sato, 1970s-90s.
Poster with the imprint of a hand outlined in blue over a white background. The interior of the palm and fingers is black with constellations, and a pink grid and labels are placed over the image. Poster with an abstract image of blue-to-pink gradient inside a tall rectangle, outlined by a frame with a yellow, blue, orange, and pink gradient. Pale white squiggles are moving over the entire image. Poster with an illustration of a figure in silhouette with dragonfly wings, floating over a white expanse with a black sky. Poster with a dark image of a woman with long hair falling over her face, mostly obscured by shadow, with columns of text on the left and right edges.

7 [REC] (2007, Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza): ok tbh this gets pretty freaky! Very good use of first-person found footage style, I was sucked in.
Spanish-language poster for [REC] with a super closeup of a woman’s face. My lb log:

Gillian Armstrong’s Mrs Soffel is on kanopy btw and it’s a really interesting historical romance inspired by a true story and Keaton is great in it

"She is the dream actress that every director should have." —Gillian Armstrong

Rest in peace to the great Diane Keaton, fearless and unique, a dream actress indeed. 📷 Norman Seeff, Los Angeles, 1975
Black and white shot of Diane Keaton in a tank top with her hands behind her head. I like this photo for its simplicity; you can feel her personality.

I see this poster regularly in the booth (honorably guarding the huge mirror we pull out for 16mm screenings) and today when I run a (pristine!) 35mm print of The Shadow for the @brattletheatre.bsky.social film matinee I will FINALLY learn what evil lurks in the hearts of men! Big day!
Large poster board with an illustration of green eyes under a brimmed hat and the tagline “Who Knows What Evil Lurks in the Hearts of Men?” leaning against a big piece of cardboard.

6 Queens of the Dead (2025, Tina Romero): ok this was a delight! Gay zombie comedy with lots of sparkle, shade, and Katy O’Brien 😍 and Romero throws in a fun cameo with a tribute to her dad. Very entertaining watch with queer friends! Comes out 10/24
Poster for Queens of the Dead showing a blue hand with long pointed nails thrusting out of the ground in front of a sequin curtain. My lb log for Queens of the Dead:

Ok FINALLY a contemporary horror movie where the weapons are bedazzled, the zombies are glittery, the lighting is bisexual, and Katy O'Brien's arms are front and center!!! Thank you Ms Romero!!!!!!

5 The Godsend (1980, Gabrielle Beaumont): A few effective moments but mostly scattered and kinda lackluster until it picks up a bit in the third act. Features a brief but memorable, creepy turn from Donald Pleasance’s daughter Angela.

Queer women and femmes should all receive a long black cloak and big ass scythe on their 18th birthdays, we deserve it.

3 Urban Legends: Bloody Mary (2005, dir. Mary Lambert): This had been on my list for ages just because of Lambert, and it’s entertaining but not much to really note. Some parallels to Hello Mary Lou but way less fun. Some good kills, including a tanning bed roasting.
Urban Legends: Bloody Mary poster. My lb log for Urban Legends: Bloody Mary.

Very stupid but enjoyable imo! Couldn't help noticing thematic parallels to Katt Shea's Carrie sequel as both take the premise of jock boys assaulting teen girl classmates and getting away with it until a vengeful magical girl comes onto the scene. The Rage is much better but appreciated the connection!

2 The Witches (1966, dir. Cyril Frankel): idk I just dig weirdo small town movies and also old timey British horror! The same writer as The Stone Tape AND Halloween III: Season of the Witch which is an impressive pedigree to me
