It's a few days late thanks to us being stranded in the DFW airport, but the Matrix episode with @tillybridges.bsky.social is here and I think it's one of the best episodes we've ever made! shows.acast.com/progressivel...

We are sorry, this week's episode is running late due to...look, there's a lot of reasons but mostly we're sick and everything is on fire.
Look, we're talking about Final Destination so let's just say death didn't want the podcast to come out on time so it hit us with logs. Germ logs.

The same Supreme Court that said it is unreasonable to consider race when giving kids access to education, has said it's reasonable to consider race when looking to remove someone from the country.

Funny how that works.

I've seen several people refer to AI-resisters as having their heads in the sand over the last few days. But resisting doesn't mean the same thing as ignoring something. On the contrary, resisting means engaging with research, parsing information, offering critique, and making informed choices.

I actually really love this visual.
My statement on Ai from the mini-comic as syllabus i made for new class I'm teaching that starts tomorrow! It robs you of your decisions & struggles - and the joy of being surprised. We won’t to be robbed of our learning - this is essential. This & the full mini at post:

Hey there Horribles,
This week's episode featuring our discussion of The Matrix with the amazing @tillybridges.bsky.social is running a little behind because Alicia and Jeremy have been moving into their new home in the DFW airport, where they may live forever now!
We'll try to get it up soon!

I don’t care about Taylor cosplaying as an English teacher. It’s the best job in the world!

What I do care about is the silence of multi-millionaires & billionaires as actual teachers consider how to pay for groceries while praying we’re not gunned down at work or arrested for teaching books.

And this is at the crux of my research. There have been calls for nigh on 50 years (at least) to diversify the books we teach in schools. And yet…
I know there's a type of person who desperately wants to believe students aren't assigned books anymore, but here's a list of the most frequently taught books by 6-12 grade teachers (n=~4,000).

Sure looks like a lot of books. Wild how many are the same ones I read in HS 3 decades ago.

I am a novice at writing comics, but it has been so striking to hear *successful* creators possess the expectation that they will forever be one health crisis away from total financial ruin. Often it’s expressed as dark humor. But that will forever define the industry for me.
Watching comic writers/artists beg for money for medical bills, while their creations reap billions, has been quite eye-opening.
