Energy requirements for AI mean that the only way for the bubble not to burst would require companies to multiply their carbon footprint to an unimaginable degree. Right now, while AI is barely functional and mostly a novelty for the lazy, it requires so much energy that data centers rival cities.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

Portland and Oregon law enforcement, at the direction of local leaders, have refused to aid ICE officers facing relentless terrorist assault and threats to life. Here’s my take on why beef matters for climate change:

“Nothing else on a pound for pound basis, except maybe refrigerants, comes close to the polluting power of beef.”

That “doesn’t mean everyone has to be vegan tomorrow,” but the goal should be to trim back…
