The Trump admin is seeking SNAP data for the same reasons it is seeking Social Security and IRS data: to identify undocumented immigrants. It is not interested in rooting out waste, fraud and abuse. But the Post editorial board treats it as a major scandal that blue states don't hand over that data.

. The dog whistle is now a fog horn.
No.

Social safety nets crumble when we wrap them in neoliberal rhetoric aimed at dividing people and deluding them into thinking that everyone--except some tiny group of perfect poor--should be able to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, even if their boots have been nailed to the floor.

The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

First, use alt-text even if you’re posting an image of text.

Second, this is an exploration of how GenAI shapes and expresses erotic desire in response to prompts. If anything, this is closer to performance art or installations like the brillo box.

The AI isn’t making the art here.

(Semafor) - The New York Times and Washington Post learned of a secret US raid on Venezuela soon before it was scheduled to begin Friday night — but held off publishing what they knew to avoid endangering US troops ..

You ever think about how the Roman Senate kept meeting centuries into the reigns of emperors. Hanging out, shooting the shit, giving speeches, and play-acting that their positions of privilege remained positions of power.

“Well… we can’t just keep filing impeachment articles all the time.”

Yes you can! If the man is committing impeachable offenses on the regular, you’re acquiescing to a standard that raises the bar for impeachable offense to absurd levels.
How are voters meant to understand how serious things are if in lieu of shouting fire AND going into building with hoses, you're simply posting fire safety suggestions on social media?
Not introducing articles of impeachment is a message that Trump hasn't committed impeachable offenses.

And what happened there...
European conquest of the islands of the Canarian archipelago lasted almost a century (1402-1496). Genocide in the Canary Islands was via attrition and the aggregate result of violence.

The Canary Islands were one of the 1st places in Atlantic to have plantations of enslaved African in the 15th c.
The Canary Islands: First Stop of Imperialism - JSTOR Daily
Before the New World, Europeans arrived in the Canary Islands and set the model for the enslavements, genocides, and radical ecological transformations to come.

in order for something new to be birthed people have to stop papering over this past and acting as if the present is some kind of mutation birthed from grifters and corporations that is not true to the spirit of the original - and not what it was, which was pretty fucked up from the getgo.

do people realize that fascism isn't so much "at war with the very concept of legitimacy" NOW, as that's one of the facets of fascism in the first place?

Zohran Mamdani, the new mayor of New York City, called President Trump on Saturday to personally object to strikes the U.S. had conducted in Venezuela and to the capture of its leader, Nicolás Maduro. Mamdani accused Trump of violating international law.

The global elite have decided they can't really risk letting us have "the news" anymore, so they've just...turned it off. I mean there's still stuff like this, but it's essentially a journalism-shaped placeholder. Like the cardboard TV in a furniture store showroom.

Okay here’s an actual take: the fascist international is at war with the very concept of legitimacy.
Their messaging is so fucking incoherent. Maduro was an illegitimate leader who lost in 2024, which is why we're replacing him with his VP instead of the person who won in 2024. We did this to stop fentanyl, which is why he's indicted for cocaine.

We're also occupying Venezuela via Zoom call.

someone has to tidy up.
Things won’t pick

can get by.
