Waymo privatized another public street:

Chanel approaching 4th, San Francisco

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.

A reminder that cars aren’t a technology problem. They’re a geometry problem.

cases like Ms. Mendoza's are why I have no confidence in the amerikan judiciary system
A mother of 8 was sexually abused by an ICE officer.

She went public with the abuse, and was deported the very next day.

Her lawyer says she had a stay on her deportation order

They disappeared her so she couldn’t speak out.

Silvia Reyna Mendoza deserves justice.

ICE should be abolished.

if there's a reason to keep up the "tribunals for all involved" discourse one such reason it is to put in stark relief how far away some of the Dem politicking is from the mood on the ground

Here's Scott sitting with Isaac Her(t)zog who has said some nasty things over the course of the genocidal eruption of the past two years and praises the "Trump Plan" for Gaza. @scottwiener.bsky.social says he disapproves of the CURRENT Israeli government but I'm sure he'd be fine with this one.

I saw somewhere that he may have gone wacky in the past few years but I recall Myron Orfield was doing great work on regional inequality and tax sharing that animated a lot of Urban Habitat's advocacy around the turn of the century (yes i really wanted to use that term).
Exciting new research that demonstrates how localities in the same metropolitan area have wildly varying tax bases—which go on to have a huge impact on the ability to provide services. Rich towns can collect more taxes, give themselves better services, and reinforce inequality.
🚨We analyzed 138 million geocoded property tax records to quantify how municipal boundaries spatially overlap onto economic segregation in every US metro area—creating disparities in localities’ ability to fund public goods. And we made an interactive map of our results! [1/16]

Not clear to me whether these rules are designed by the fossil fuel industry, tech industry, Russia/Saudi Arabia, "Abundance" centrists, DC consultants, or virtually all Republicans & far too many Democrats.

But they are this moment's conventional wisdom.

And they are a doomed, reckless farce.
1. Do not speak of climate change.

2. Do not antagonize fossil fuels. Embrace fossil fuels via "all of the above" & "technology neutral."

3. Fixate on energy & economics to exclusion of ecology & equity.

4. Speak often of reducing costs. Sometimes emissions.

5. Hobble bedrock environmental laws.

Not kidding when I say they should fund the free buses by actually enforcing driving and parking rules. Walk around any neighborhood of NYC for an hour and you will witness ~30 ticketable offenses. Everyone will get around faster if people follow the rules. Iron-fist it. Cameras on every stoplight.

SIGH

I personally date the fall of the post-Civil Rights constitutional order 2013 & Shelby County v Holder. When a reactionary SCOTUS could knock out the keystone of equal voting rights, & everyone agreed that was valid, it was an epochal change. It meant democracy was itself now a partisan issue.
As we all wait for Callais to come down, our piece showing that Shelby County increased the racial turnout gap in most of the covered parts of the country has cleared the replication check and is incoming at JOP.

Gutting the VRA was bad, actually.

This is some genocide laundering bullshit. @scottwiener.bsky.social who opposed SF's cease fire resolution, is a vociferous defender of Israel's right to murder at will, and is one of the point people pushing laws to shut down antigenocide protest and honest education in California schools.
Scott Wiener, Jewish Democrat and critic of Israel’s war in Gaza, vies for Nancy Pelosi’s seat
“The obliteration of Gaza and the scale of death among Palestinians is an immoral thing,” said California state Sen. Scott Wiener.
