Wikipedia says the original parkways were meant to be tree lined and pleasant. Like a park!
But the UK ones in aware of (Sheffield, Bristol) are just big bypasses. There's probably an etymological term for this (then yes now it means out if town station which makes slightly more sense)

Ha. My weird hangup is like reverse class masculine anxiety; worrying that they're thinking "why is this fancy twat so stupid that he can't do this himself?" so I'm constantly like "of course I would do it but I'm not sure which is the best type of screw, also I'm busy doing other man things"

[1] this is bluesky so of course I have to point out that sometimes bad things happen, also nobody is forcing you ride in one, most taxi drivers are working class and also it is a human right to use them and actually it's ableist to suggest buses exist but also: the opposite.

I always feel like minicabs are cheating even though in most places it's cheaper & quicker & more reliable than the bus if there's 2 of you [1]. I think it's a weird thing based on price/class markers of the past like flat screen TVs and avocado toast are preventing you from buying a house.

Got an email back from the police about my report of motorbikes on the park, which I did through the website after spending 25 minutes on hold. Email suggested I phone them next time so they can do something at the time.

I don't live in London so need a car but this can be seen as a great alternative to a second car that spends 99% of the time on the drive only to go to pick the kids up or whatever.

They should move the colleges around to decentralise education. Christ College Salford. Kings College Leeds. Trinity College Loughborough.

If the academics want to hang out they can use Zoom.

I grew up in a northern city! I got to meet posh twats, people from Welsh villages, Nigerians, Filipinos, Chinese postgrads, Turkish stoners, Londoners, farmer's kids.... Also girls.

The big underrated thing about university that's hard to cost is that it's a big demographic shakerupper. Everyone from the big cities mixes with the people from the small towns, the ones with the rich parents get the same bus into town etc.
