Just so you so know, I plan to use this space much as I did the other one i.e. when I post, I'm often just trying to put my own thoughts in order. If you find that interesting or useful, that's great; if not, that's also great. I'm not here to chase engagement.

Interesting thread on AI clips circulating.

This is AI.

Seems like they are going after reporters who are women. They hit one w/pepper spray ammo in her car, the WGN reporter and now this.

I presume bad actors will be using the fake watermark to discredit inconvenient clips?

Just got a flu jab and my NHS surgery is just so phenomenally efficient at those sorts of things. Was in the building for about 60secs tops. Just waned to share some positivity for once!

People surprised that some formerly sensible left-leaning or liberal women are now apparently full of admiration for white supremacists, rapists and genocide might note that their entry point for far right radicalisation was invariably a belief that transphobia is ‘feminist’. Just saying.

No. He's actually very impressed with the technical skills. What you might call ...accountability.

If it's only Islamic oppression of women you take issue with, then you probably ought to take a long hard look in the mirror.

It's not as if we're short of Christian examples in the English-speaking world. You just need to look to many communities in the States.
amosduveen.bsky.social
I'm going to tentatively suggest that, while this may be true for actual Christians, it is probably not true for the ones who spend most time talking about it (clergy excepted).

Quite how you capture the difference in a survey is a challenge I don't envy.

"People who attend church or identify with a Christian tradition are not systematically more (or less) nativist, authoritarian or populist than their secular counterparts. Conversely, people who hold nativist and authoritarian views are often also Islamophobes, and vice versa." 👏 @kai-arzheimer.com
Islamophobia in Western Europe is not driven by religiosity
Are Christians more likely to be Islamophobic than other citizens in Europe? New research finds European Islamophobia has no link to a person’s religiosity.

The replies to the quoted post absolutely confirm. No moral high ground here. Brits are exactly the same in this regard.

Wen should direct more attention to incidents like these because Americans are more likely to respond to brutality to pets than to brutality to human beings.

EL PASO — a family says ICE showed up at their house looking for migrants and shot and KILLED THEIR DOG, then didn’t help them as the agent ran away and was not identified.

BRITISH PRESS LAUD TRUMP -
BUT IT’S NO ABOUT HIM
With one of the dailies lauding Trump as “BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS”, others declaring him the best thing since Chamberlain signed the Munich Agreement (you’ll need to dive in the history books to see how popular he was in that moment), and berating

...and when they cannot attack with logic or evidence, they poke fun. It's punching down which not funny and never has been; all it does is demonstrate how vacuous their entire position is.
amosduveen.bsky.social
All they see is a soft target (based on widespread misconceptions about a condition, often cultivated by an ideologically aligned media). They have no interest in understanding the condition or its associated needs, all they are looking for is a target to attack...

There was absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Jews in Germany deliberately sabotaged the WW1 war effort or organised a grand conspiracy to destroy Germany after the war. Zero.

Obvious point but worth bearing in mind during this ‘Great Antifa scare of ‘25’

I'M NOT SHOUTING, I'M MAJUSCULATING!
merriam-webster.com
Printing presses kept their letters in cases.

Capital letters went in the upper case.
Smaller letters went in the lower case.

This is why we say ‘UPPER CASE’ and ‘lower case.’

Ok, but what did we call them before the invention of the printing press?

MAJUSCULE and minuscule.
amosduveen.bsky.social
Which becomes even more confusing when you remember that the type was itself a mirror image of the required letter.
