Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

I tried watching News at Ten but it's just making me so damn angry.

All this evidence that the people in power just DO NOT CARE, EVER, about ordinary girls. That's what it boils down to.

And as soon as they get a token resignation, they won't care again.

The question surely becomes: If politicians were incapable of reading someone who was such an open book as Mandelson – because he was charming and he was useful to them – then do they have any fitness to be running a country?

If you’re popping a random idea into ChatGPT and getting a listicle, it won’t be long before everyone realises they don’t need to pay you for that.

and then what do you pay for? surely: the value of unique writing style, unique personal perspectives and genuine real thinking in a piece goes up.

Very useful thread
Peter Mandelson is telling the truth on one thing: the idea he was bought for a $4k “bursary” or a $75k gift is ridiculous

The real incentive was a post-government payday - one so big he *rejected* a $3–5m-a-year offer

And Epstein enabled that payday

Here’s the evidence. 🧵

And presumably knowing this could come out, the scumbag was still trying to come back to public life a couple of weeks ago. The self entitlement is beyond anything.
I'm not prone to exaggeration but this is probably the biggest scoop I've ever been involved in

Mandelson's partner took £10,000 from Epstein to pay for his osteopath course while Mandelson was de facto UK deputy prime minister, according to new files

Oh, I'm GUTTED by this. Seeing that mural for the first time when I was still breastfeeding was such a lovely moment, I can't quite describe it, I would often look at a photo of it when I was exhausted by clusterfeeds. What a real shame.

The government’s suggestion that rolling out 20 minute courses on writing “AI“ prompts, sponsored by Google, Microsoft and Amazon, is somehow comparable to the founding of the Open University (the Wilson government‘s, & Jennie Lee’s, proudest achievement), is an insult to our human intelligence.

Another question I came here with was: how effective are the whistles and honking? Does it stop abductions? And the answer is, surprisingly to my cynical self, yes, and often. I have talked to so many people who have successfully interrupted kidnappings.

My beloved partner has been lately forcing me to endure a long, long bingewatch of dreadfully earnest saccharine medical drama The Good Doctor and now he has started on the Korean original! Which, to be fair, is definitely better apart from weird music, but AIBU to murder him in his sleep tonight?
