It finally happened: after talking only to my three-year-old all morning, I asked a barista if the coffee shop “had a potty”.

Want some genuinely great boardgame recommendations for Xmas? All sorts here, from light party games to heavy strategy - including recs from yours truly. I would've raved about Magical Athlete but @danthurot.bsky.social had that base covered (I got it off the strength of his original review!).

You are ABSOLUTELY NOT going to regret listening to this bird:
A male rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in winter plumage.

Ptarmigan is from Gaelic 'tarmachan' meaning "croaker". The p- was added when people mistakenly assumed it was a Greek word.

A bird forever warning people: "A werewolf!" (just in case of werewolves).

Woolworths (South Africa) has fucking lost their minds. That’s a cheese cake for R437,50/kg. To put that into perspective min wage is R28,79/hr or 15 hours labour. And yes I know a person earning that won’t buy this, but it is indicative of the insane income gaps here, cause people will buy this.

it's honestly reassuring that hundreds of people spend thousands of hours looking at something and can still miss something so obvious. it's very human.
