The shop by me sells "chicken burgers" which are functionally identical to their chicken kyivs except without the garlic sauce inside them. But you're *supposed* to put them in bread buns. So these ones are burgers. I mean the EU are right in that sense, that this is no system at all

Literally the argument is:

Chicken burger = chicken — fine
Lamb burger = lamb — fine
Beefburger = beef — fine
Cheeseburger = also beef — fine
Hamburger = somehow also beef — fine
Veggie burger = vegetables — too confusing

It's embarrassing, imagine being a Useful Idiot for a sausage firm

Idk. Rubs me the wrong way. Traditionally, it should be beef. You can't say "we can extend it to other meats, but mushroom or vegetables or synthetic meat is too far" and then act all surprised when people assume you're just being pissy to vegetarians becuse you're afraid they might be right

WOW! The European Parliament just voted to BAN the words 'burger' and 'sausage' when used in sustainable plant-based alternatives. HUGE win for the meat and dairy lobby in the EU, and lots more confusion for consumers if this goes through. Insane!
