I'm not at all convinced that a public inquiry is the right vehicle to get at the truth of this.

You wouldn't normally use a public inquiry to investigate corruption. Or treason for that matter.

These things should be investigated by the police. Or the security services.

As for Farage’s use of racist slurs being confined to his childhood - well, that's not what Alan Sked, the founder of UKIP, claimed in this 2014 interview.

He says here that Farage was using the "n" word as late as 1997.

Farage would have been about 33 at time.

Three things about the Witkoff tapes:

1) It appears Western intelligence services have decided to let Witkoff (and Trump) know they have recordings of their traitorous conversations w/Russia.

2) This Ukraine "deal" was all Witkoff's idea.

3) Congressional leaders should demand he be fired.

Trump tried to extort Brazil to drop the case against Bolsonaro by slapping a 50% tariff on the country

He also personally sanctioned Alexandre de Moraes-the judge overseeing this case-and his wife

Of course it didn’t work. Prices in the US increased instead

Now Trump has been humiliated

Brexit has cost each and every one of us £3,700 a year.

But instead of solving the problem, Labour are using Brexit as an excuse to raise your taxes.

My message ahead of the Budget: Stop blaming Brexit and start fixing it!

Trump bragged about making this deal a month ago, which means they expected China to buy approximately 6 million tons of soybeans at this point

Instead, China has bought only 332,000

That's about 5.5% of what they should've purchased

Trump's tarrifs have absolutely decimated US farmers

Hi James Kelly at BBC News.

I don't know how you're recruiting your sample of interviewees, but as you express negative views about GenderGP in the email, I doubt you are being unbiased.

One way to judge is to look at TrustPilot.

Out of 838 reviews, GenderGP scores 4.3.

That's pretty good.

Charges for violence against women rising - charges involving sexual abuse, controlling or coercive behaviour, stalking, intentional strangulation.. But get this

It’s not migrants, it’s homegrown British sexual predators/control freaks

But as they’re often White the Right Wing don’t care about it❗️
CPS reports surge in violence against women charges

This is very good. We need to tax wealth and raise taxes on middle earners.
My pre-budget take for the LSE Politics blog is up:

Labour are unable to articulate any vision or sense of purpose.

Much of the left has convinced itself that government spending can be maintained without broad-based tax increases.

Not a great budget backdrop.

The Great British Public will always vote for other people to pay for the services they use.

Until you point out the consequences of the proposed solution.

Get foreign students to pay more?

Consequence: they'll go elsewhere and British Universities will financially collapse.
With Rachel Reeves reportedly set to apply a new tax on tuition fees paid by overseas students, most Britons support such a move at the previously mooted level of 6%

Support: 57%
Oppose: 18%

Yes, there are spending multipliers etc - and yes, Kuenssberg spouted vacuous talking points.

BUT.

There is a bond market (or more generally a macro) constraint to borrowing, as there was in the 2010s - we just weren't near it then. Dodging the issue/pretending it doesn't exist isn't a policy.
@zackpolanski.bsky.social on the importance of spending multipliers & borrowing to invest

Zack is, without doubt, a great communicator. And on him talking about democracy & the bond markets I'm reminded of Eddie Dempsey at the Durham Miners Gala when he asked "who elected the bond market?"
