I am having a Sad Day. Part of that is what I was saying earlier about my mother. And... The people I live with were just very down too. And then they left, one for work and one for a party. And I never felt like I could even tell them I'm having a rough day.

#QueerWritersChat It belatedly occurs to me that the "you don't recognize me" spells some of my characters wear follow the spirit of a mask used for disguise.

They're famous, but don't want to be mobbed by people who recognize them from the news while they're trying to hang out with friends.

Today is my mother's 70th birthday.

I'm really not sure what, if anything, to do with this information.

I haven't talked to her in 2 (3?) years, when she had a suboptimal reaction to being told a family member is trans.

Authors, in the interest of helping readers spot gen ai 'authored' books, how many novels do you publish a year?

I publish one 80-100k+ word (epic fantasy) novel, and I can only do that because I drafted 8 novels before I started publishing any. 📚💙

I put out four <100k word YA novels in six years.

Eight years after that, I released a 140k adult romantasy that I rewrote continuously that whole time. I'm hoping to get its followup out a year after it, but that feels a bit optimistic right now.

I finished Of Monsters and Mainframes. It is small press and wound up being more queer than anticipated, so not off brand for me at all.

I LOVED it and think anyone who enjoys both SciFi and classic monsters should go read it.

My options right this second are make a bunch of probably futile phone calls despite my phone phobia or come to terms now with not being able to think next week.

No worries. Thinking is optional in US society. Discouraged even.

By auto-mod zealousness, I'm referencing the number of times the system has pinged me for 'you say people can follow you, but did you mean people like THIS?' and 'Not sure you want this comment? approve/deny' So far the answer's only been no once, but it was the type of bot I get here regularly.
