⭐ Welcome to AndyK250's 2025 Media Thread!⭐

For the past couple of years, I've tried to thoughtfully keep track of and post about the things I've watched, played, or read over the course of a year. I'll be continuing that tradition this year, starting with this post.

Europeans didn't learn about electric eels until after they learned about electricity. There are electric catfish in the Nile, and they were called thunder fish.

Native S. American peoples called electric eels something that translates to: the fish that takes away movement.

Every day, I'm unfortunately increasingly convinced that there's really only one solution to our problem, but most people don't seem to be ready for it, at least not yet.

One guy tried, unsuccessfully, to blow up a plane with a bomb in his sneakers, and everybody had to take off their shoes at the airport for the next 20 years.

Chatbots have a collective body count equal to Richard "The Night Stalker" Ramirez, and they're trying to put them in schools.
30 years ago they were like we have to ban song lyrics for the children but it’s full steam ahead for the here’s how to do drugs until you die machine
“ChatGPT started coaching Sam on how to take drugs, recover from them and plan further binges. It gave him specific doses of illegal substances, and in one chat, it wrote, ‘Hell yes—let’s go full trippy mode’”

My joy at being able to pull thru my last hospital visit has been replaced by the anxiety that it would've been cheaper to die.
Just throwing this out there hoping for a miracle. I've got PayPal or cash app too.

sometimes I like to give myself a brain owie the way you might eat a spicy pepper for fun by thinking “what if earth really does have the only life in the universe and the entire cosmos was meant to be our garden, but this is what we’re doing as a species to ourselves and our planet instead”

I think we can all use an inspirational Nazi killin' right about now, amirite?
Why not start out the year inspired? This week Corrigan tells Marko the story of Hannie Schaft and the Oversteegen Sisters, teenage badasses who seduced and killed Nazis. Plus, for good measure, we answer some burning listener questions!

the USA obsession with fossil fuels and generative 'AI' is not only unethical because it hurts people and messes up the climate and ecosystems. It's also just a huge dead end. We are placing way too many resources in this garbage while other countries move on to better things. This stuff is useless.

the reason people sometimes act madder at democrats than republicans when republicans do impossibly evil shit is the same reason why, if you hired an exterminator to handle a roach infestation and he showed up to feed and play with them instead, your first instinct wouldn’t be to yell at the roaches

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.
