⭐ Welcome to AndyK250's 2025 Media Thread!⭐

For the past couple of years, I've tried to thoughtfully keep track of and post about the things I've watched, played, or read over the course of a year. I'll be continuing that tradition this year, starting with this post.

Refusing to feed people while building a massive ballroom is a fast track to eat the rich. No pun intended.
Mine definitely didn't have the tour information on the back. Maybe mine was a bootleg, too? I don't think it had anything on the back. Maybe a little NIИ logo in white on the back near the color, or printed where the tag would be?
In all seriousness, they're some kind of sphinx. Any idea where the table is from?

An important factor in '80s music was the mysterious pyramid artifact that wrote all the songs. The pyramid also invented gated reverb and was an in-demand session saxophonist
Oooh... I had that one at one point! 1997 or so?
Because "Wazowski" only has one "i," or...?
Most people are only given these exams as kids (if they aren’t meeting developmental benchmarks), as seniors (if they're demonstrating cognitive decline), or after they've suffered a stroke or traumatic brain injury. So, it's telling that he keeps talking about this screening.
This is admittedly an "easier" part of the test, but it's a test that most people don't struggle with, unless they have a cognitive impairment of some kind. That's why it's used to screen for them.
He seems to be referring to Component 4 ("Naming") on this sort of cognitive exam. You have to correctly identify the names of animals after seeing their pictures. Being able to name these animals is what he is boasting about:

The MoCA is a cognitive test used for screening mild cognitive impairment.

The way they drop the laugh track so early somehow emphasizes the awkwardness of the rest of the video; it's as if *the video itself* also realized how staggeringly unfunny her schtick was, but couldn't look away.
Crimes Of The Future (2022, dir. David Cronenberg, comp. Howard Shore)
having my typical evening of quieting the internal anguish by watching horror, when this commercial came on tubi, and i thought i had entered some sort of psychotic fugue.

sound on.
The old adage "you are what you eat" holds true here: your BlueSky experience is informed by what/who you follow.

In other words, if what you're describing is all you're seeing, you sought it out, whether that was conscious or not.

I've always hated "not being afraid to color outside the lines" as an idiom, but I can’t put my finger on why.

It's as good as most Internet "fan theory" content.
I follow 1.3K but it's probably for the same reason I also have 50+ browser tabs open at any given time.

"Rather than putting as many resources as possible to solving the world’s biggest problems, as we’ve been promised AI will do, the technologists of the world are asking simply: how can I put my dick in this?"

The idea that we'll entrust superintelligence to provide meaningful guidance for solving the world's problems is ridiculous.

We already know how to solve a lot of the most significant problems of our era. It's just unprofitable to save the world and its creatures, so we don't.
