I don't get nearly any engagement, but I get news and politics here that I don't get elsewhere - I follow a bunch of investigative reporters and lefty politicians here. Def not a Facebook replacement.

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am in my extremely curated bubble. I don't have a public facing job, so I can keep pretty tight control over the people I interact with, and I sometimes forget how aggressive/violent/irrational some people are to the people around them.

Ah, I have yet to see anyone or anything against AI that I feel is too extreme. What does 'extreme' anti AI sentiment look like to you?

Three percent of responses were correct and complete. Five times as often, responses were incomplete and incorrect.

This is humiliating for AI backers, but even more so for the authors of this paper and their truly uncritical analysis.

This would be hilarious if it weren't for the fact that the authors, and many library administrators, weren't still insistent that chatbots are something libraries should implement. 📚

While I appreciate pushback against AI art, I stumbled over the part where the author uses AI, just not for tasks in *their* chosen profession. Seems a little... narrow of a stance to take.

I think this same argument applies to AI writing, translation, and probably most of coding and many medical applications. There is such a limited range of applicability for AI that doesn't cause notable harm to others.

If you decide to have children, you have to do so knowing that your child could be gay, trans, etc., and if you go into it knowing that you wouldn't support them if that were the case, you don't love them and you shouldn't be having children.

This is the lowest number ever found in surveys asking similar questions.
