I keep returning to Miyazaki’s response to “AI animation” all the way back in 2016, years before public access/primetime, declaring it “An insult to life itself” within minutes

Struck how the absolute moral clarity of that impression still resonates today, unlike this so called Generative effort.
Truly 'tis a Christmas Sea(n)son miracle - new Japan Only PS1 games vid just dropped!

Fully in the bag of REFLECTION IN A DEAD DIAMOND. Every shot and cut more impecable than the last for a film that feels formally exhilarating in its sensory pleasures, while commenting on the fragmentation that occurs for performers caught between fiction and truth. Exquisite.

Astro Monster is such a perfect showcase of Toho’s classic science fiction. Godzilla is only a small part of the movie’s visual spectacle and storytelling. Add its partnership with Hollywood’s heartthrob culture (Nick Adams was in Elvis and James Dean’s inner circle), it’s just massively important!

Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

It hasn't even been twelve hours, but all three of us have been overwhelmed with requests from media for comment and I'm mostly writing this now so they'll leave me alone.
this is such a painful loss. my heart is broken.
“The most important things are the hardest things to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them — words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they’re brought out. But it’s more than that,...

Shocked by the awful death of Rob Reiner. I spoke with him for over an hour last night. We talked about his work and his plans for the future. I always enjoyed his company. We met at his Dad's in 1975. Last thing he said to me was "See you next year.." Such a terrible end. Such a sweet man.

Need to convey how bad Minnie has it for Mickey in 1933's Building a Building. Who could have predicted it: two Disney icons fingering a very *ahem* suspiciously drawn pie!?

Wow

Mickey has recently seen personality reforms to correct his boring-as-'90s image, where is *this* Minnie? Agency is key!

Ok, people have asked me for years to compile the Annotated SOTN into a single video, so here it is. Lightly edited and occasionally sped up to get rid of some of the silent moments.

Enjoy

My big takeaway from the unified Kill Bill is that I have an answer to "what's your low-stakes conspiracy theory" and it's Weinstein cutting the movie in two in order to get revenge on Uma Thurman by kneecapping an Oscar-worthy performance.
