All political parties pander to retired people because they are so much more likely to vote.

No, it's not all just good honest patriotism: this appeared on our daily dog walk on Lancing Beach Green. Don't worry, Spitha, you're going nowhere and neither am I.
Scruffy black rescue dog sitting by a pedestrian crossing where the words Send them back! and a St Georges Cross have been spray painted.

Nothing to see here. Just Nigel Fartrage keeping a look out for those pesky immigrants.

I think the same thing is going on here.

I thought "oh he is old" and then got to the end of the sentence and he was born the same year I was... That doesn't add up, surely...?😱🤣

"Significant contribution to the field" often translates to "first person to care about this very specific thing"

No, what I am accepting is that it is not worth my time to argue on social media with people who are not interested in changing their minds, and sometimes instead resort to flinging insults around to get a reaction.

I teach family law. ECHR protects families from arbitrarily having their children taken away by the state and it helps so many dads maintain a relationship with their children.

I'm afraid I haven't put enough time into understanding this policy to do that with confidence, no, sorry.

It won't change anything for those who have one, but it will make it much more difficult to come into the country illegally and then disappear.

Bullied. We were just bullied instead. And made to feel like we deserved that for being so weird.

Over the last 24 hours Reform, with just a single policy announcement, have put fear where previously there was none into the hearts of millions of UK residents.

No 10 and the Chancellor have said nothing about the ethics of this.

I have no words left for them.

Thank you for this being in my timeline today - an immigrant.

Reform are filth. They represent hatred, extremism, ignorance and irresponsibility. They'd make us a wretched vicious hateful little island. If people don't stand up to this, they won't stand up to anything.

Så trist. Tog det alltid personligt på nåt sätt när dom inte ville ha mitt gamla hus. Och allt som kommer bort för att man slängde in det i nåt skåp i sista minuten...

King Charles will have had no say in this. I don't think he likes Trump any more than his mother did. This is political, exactly as OP says.

I agree with you that Charlie Kirk, like so many American Evangelicals and other white Christian nationalists, did not really live by the values Jesus actually espoused. I don't know enough Catholics to generalise - the ones I know are nice.

Isn't that a Christian faith where you come from?

The hardest part of academic writing is remembering which synonym for important you haven’t used yet

I agree. Labour needs to tell an alternative story, that's more appealing

No, but I wonder if it's a bit like Brexit. People voted for Starmer with a wide set of different hopes and motivations. And in both the Leadership and General Elections, people voted against others more than for Starmer.
